Who Should be the Next England Captain (Tests)?

My vote goes to Strauss, though i'd expect they will give it to KP for PR reasons...

If you look at the current team theres only two people it could be Strauss or Pietersen. I think they'll go for Pietersen so they have a joint captain in both Test and ODI cause Strauss isn't an established player in the ODI team. I'd like them to go for KP unlike what others say I think hes captain material and would do well.

Someone said this at the game I was watching earlier; one team shouted kebabs for lunch and the other KFC for Tea. Sums up Rob Key nicely that.

Seriously though, giving it to someone who technically isn't good enough to get in the team would be bizarre. I'd have gone with Collingwood, but due to a process of elimination, I too am left with Pietersen.

The only other people bar Strauss and Kp that could be captains would be Cook and Bell but defintely not in the near future. Im pretty sure that at some point one of them will the England Captain if not both at different times.

No way should Pietersen be captain, for the same reason Botham and Flintoff shouldn't have been made captain. Expect similar results, Botham no win in 12 Tests is it, and Flintoff two wins and seven defeats in 11.

And a big to Robert "The Don" Key. Vaughan is gone because of his batting, so people suggest bringing in someone who couldn't hold down a batting place in the side! 2/7 of his runs came in one innings, even then his average is a decidedly poor 31 from 15 Tests.

I just can't believe how Strauss can be overlooked, he's averaging 41.61 in his last 13 Tests, is unbeaten as England captain and has a batting average of over 50 as England captain. Had he been captain for the 23 Tests Vaughan was against West Indies, New Zealand and Bangladesh (P23 W20 D2 L1) then the media would probably be comparing Strauss to Brearley rather than Vaughan : Vaughan never once beat India, Pakistan or Sri Lanka in a Test as captain (1/3 of all Test sides), yet apparently he's the best ever.

You can't right KP off. In his one day match he captained really well and I'm sure he would do a bloody good job as the Test captain! Everybody slates him for being to aggresive well it would help him as a captain to calm it down. He's the only person with a secure place!
