Who's the most successful Medium pacer?

Harvey is the best medium pacer i ve ever seen!!!!

Also there are some of the othr tricky medium pacers,

1)Chris Harris - very cunning bowler
2)Andre Adams - Good bowler
3)Astle - medium pacer often breaks patnership
4)Robin Singh - Talented.
5)M.Elham(England) - Good bowler
6)Adam Hollioake - bowls good line
7)Hansie Cronje - He can be considered next to Harvey...he is great and cunning
8)S.Waugh - experienced one

also can kumble be added in this list..or he is more than medium shd be medium fast ;) ....lol!!!! :happy

Harvey/Cronje/S.Waugh may be the best of all!!!! :cheers

Andre Adams is a medium fast bowler.

And hes a very good all-rounder. I noticed hes been playing very well for Essex with ball and bat. I want to see him back in the Black Caps soon, hes only played 1 test where he made good contribution. Thats pretty unfortonate. Hes a handy ODI player. I think he is probably a better one day option then Martin. Very under-rated.

Harvey never played Test cricket so cant be "the" best .

S.Waugh left bowling for over 5 years so no luck thier either.

Cronje - 157 international wickets- best ???????

Also all the crap list that you have at the top only Harris even qualifies for being a bowler .

I think the best medium pacers has to be

1)McGrath-873 wickeets.

2)Pollock-742 wickets

3) Chaminda Vaas -656 wickets .

All of these guys were never express and gradually have come to high 70 mph to low 80 mph classifying them as medium pacers.

Some where closer would be

Never use to be express but he was no slouch either! Certainly use to be fast-medium and I don't think it's particularly fair on the genuine medium pacers to include a bowler who was capable of 90mph. Same with Pollock, who was probably a bit slower than McGrath when at peak fitness etc. although he really is a medium pacer at the moment, he never use to be. Vaas is a close call as he's never been particularly quick.

Interesting question...in ODI's, I guess it would have to be Chris Harris (although I initally thought that he was a spinner :D ). Not only does he have 203 ODI wickets, but he is the perfect one-day bowler too: his 90-95 km/h range makes the batsman 'work hard'. In Tests...eh, that's a more difficult question. Steve Waugh was good in his day...but I will say Chaminda Vaas, because he does occassionally go below 120 (km/h) when he bowls and that for me is the cut-off point for (slow) medium-fast and just plain medium.

Not really medium pace. They started out much faster for starters.

You have the 3 most sucessful medium fasts perhaps.

My rules would be:

average speed KMPH

140+: Fast
120-140: Medium Fast
120-: Medium

Razzaq is fast medium, he bowls somewhere from low-80's to mid-80's. If thats medium for you, then he's definitely on the list. 230 ODI wickets is a big achievement, for an all-rounder!

His test record is rather poor, by his standards and the standards we are using for comparison.

McGrath bowled in high 80's for sometime, especially in the tests but slowed down these days. Same with Pollock.
Vaas has however been consistently around low 80's, so he's among the most successful medium pace bowler

Medium Pace not millitary medium is the contention here.

120 is what is millitary medium

Shaun Pollock did indeed start out bowling express pace.

Hah, noone said Anil Kumble yet!

I wouldn't call Vass medium pace. Medium pace for me are those part timers like Ponting, Martyn, Steve Waugh and co. Mark Waugh himself was a good medium pace bowler. Chris Harris close to the best in ODIs for medium pace. But in both test and odis Astle is the winner. He has a good knack of picking up wickets while keeping it very tight for the Kiwis.

I think courtney walsh was on of the best

That is quite scary actually.

As for the question, I think only genuine medium pacers should be considered like Astle, Symonds etc. Not like Razzaq or Vaas or anyone who I'd call mesium fast.
