Will Codemasters be able to get ICC license?

Why is everyone jumping off Codies? I reckon they've been the benchmark up until the last game. For prolonged performance the ICC should look at them instead. At least it's one of Codies franchise games as opposed to EA who have little time and budget for a cricket title (for example, they only released Cricket 07 on PS2).
Let's face it, who is going to value the license more over seven years? EA has more high profile licenses that they'll treat with the level of respect that the ICC would expect for theirs. It makes sense for the ICC to go with a proven company when it comes to cricket games.
Anyone who thinks Cricket will become like NBA Live or Madden is sorely mistaken in the short term.

At least EA games work on "not very good" GFX cards.

who cares as long as person enjoys the AI and the GFX look very decent, and biggest thing of all, it works.

That would be why I have Cricket 07 for the PC? ;)

way to miss the point of the post...;)

What I was trying to say was the fact that EA didn't bother with a next-gen title suggests (to me anyway) that they didn't consider cricket to be high profile enough. That's why I reckon Codies would do better to get the ICC license and this way the cricket game lover will (hopefully) get the best effort possible in a cricket game. They have a new dev studio working on it now so it's hard to bag Codies last effort and expect the same given that different companies will have worked on the titles.
I'm no Codies fanboi, I just want the best possible Cricket game out there...for every player on every platform.

for ICC the most important thing is money. And if you see this way then most likely EA will bid higher then codies (I suppose EA is richer then codies). Also ICC should see previous BLIC 07 was a crappy game while EA cricket 07 was a better game.

gud point there. codies certainly dont luk like producing a massive epic cricket game so i guess the ICC refuse to give them a lisence maybe the ICC beleive EA luk the goods or maybe they dont care bout cricket in video games at all, or maybe the yshud give money to coides instead of a lisence so codies can produce a ground breaking cric videogame

Nobody is ever going to produce a ground breaking cricket game, software houses just don't believe the market is big enough to warrant huge investment. What you get with cricket games is old technology recycled from other games.

In a couple of years time we might get an EA cricket game that looks a bit like FIFA08 does now, but by that time the FIFA series will have moved on a long way.

shouldn't be too harsh on codies. the BLIC07 engine has infinitely more potential than EA's effort - or at least it would, if it was more customizable. the batting is more solid, the bowling is infinitely more enjoyable and the fielding adds a touch of skill to the game that no cricket title has even come close to replicating.

dont forget the very efficient multiplayer as well. theres a lot of things that are disappointing about BLIC, but unlike EA's effort most of these could be easily resolved with refinements rather than complete remodelling (bar the AI of course).

EA Licenced stuff sucks anyway, FIFA for example kits and stuff look all mankey and washed out.

(Current-gen fifa that is).

Any news who got the ICC license? Codemasters or EA? Is there any way to find out??? The last date to bid was Jan 18 so I think it should have been decided by now.
