Great stuff Kez, good to see you back in the story forum. Nice choice of team, not the normal one that gets selected for stories.

Good luck and keep it up :thumbs

Nice to see you went for Worcestershire in the end, good to see someone being them. Simon Jones is awesome and will be a big player for you, as will Moore and Solanki.

Great start to the story mate, and nice to see you with another story. Looking forward to this.

Hick suffers injury setback

512801.jpg

With just a week to go until Worcestershire face Warwickshire at Edgbaston, star batsman Graeme Hick broke his fingers whilst batting in the nets. Taking a blow to his middle and index fingers whilst facing Kabir Ali.

'The ball bounced awkwardly, slowing it down i had already commited to the shot and the ball hit me right on my middle and index finger. straight away i knew it was broke, the physio told me i wouldn't be able to play for at least 3-4 weeks, im really dissapointed to get injured so close to the beginning of the season but ill be ready when im fit again'

Coach Kieren Temprell has full faith in the batting squad he has to be able to overcome Hicks injury

'Of course its a big blow to loose a player of Hicks calibre so close to the beginning of the season but we have some very talented batsmen on the fringe of the squad and its going to be fierce competition to see who can grab Hicks place before we go to Warwickshire'

That is a big blow right there, a great batsmen and he will be missed no doubt. Good update mate, I'm liking the quotes! :)

Edgbaston

Welcome to Edgbaston for the opening game of the English cricket season between Warwickshire and Worcestershire both teams were relegated last season and are firm favourites to go back up, the pitch is an absolute betler and the only choice is to bat, both teams have adopted different approaches.

The home team Warwickshire have filled the batting order with capable players all the way to 9 or some would say 10, this leaves them vulnerable in the bowling department with two pace bowlers, Brown and Tahir and two spinners, Botha and Salisbury. Worcestershire have decided to pick four front line pace bowlers in, Ali, Magoffin, Jones and Mason and a spinning option in Batty, this could leave them abit thin on batting especially with Hick out injured and the inexperiend Moeen Ali replacing him. It will be an interesting four days here.

the teams in full

Warwickshire
I Westwood
M Powell
I Bell
T Ambrose (Wk)
J Troughton
I Trott
D Maddy (C)
D Brown
A Botha
N Tahir
I Salisbury

Worcestershire

S Moore
B Smith
V Solanki (C)
S Davies (Wk)
M Ali

Vikram Solanki won the toss and choose to bat

You should look for a good start to the season. It could really boost team morale :)
