Story Somerset's 2007 Season [ICC2005]

BLACKWELL's FIREWORKS CONTINUES......

The match is drifting between both the teams... Few gud overs as well as some bad overs!!!!

Somerset still need 111 runs to win at 5.8/over having 9 wickets in hand!!!!

The good thing for somerset is, Both Erwine and Blackwell are continuing well....

Erwine playing a great supporting role with 53(87) and Blackwell is on his way to get a century!!!!

After 26 overs Somerset still trail behind Durham in comparison...

This combination(Blackwell and Erwine) is a real trouble for durham bowlers!!! They are trying hard to break this crucial partnership!!!! Their partnership is already on 140!!!

If this pair continues like this then there is no doubt on victory for Somerset....
But if couple of quick wickets fall then anything may happen!!!

So the game is still a balanced one!!!

:cheers

CENTURIANS(Erwine and Blackwell) BRING VICTORY....

Its the great end for the match!!!! The Centurions of Somerset finishes off in style!!!!

Erwine and Blackwell finished the match with 4.1 overs left!!!!

Erwine who played a good supporting role in the start, enjoyed the party with Blackwell!!! Both were rotating strikes in good deliveries and bad deliveries were put away to fence in style!!! Durham bowlers never looked impressive at the last and almost gave away the fightback at last few overs!!! They even missed few catches!!!

Both(Erwine and Blackwell) got centuries and brought a classic win for Somerset!!!!

Somerset got 265/1 in 40.5 overs itself!!!!

Presentation Cermony,Match Analysis to be followed shorter......

MATCH ANALYSIS :

Today is the excellent match and it was a tight contest between these two teams......

SOME TOP STORIES :

FIRST SESSION :

Durham had a complete control in the first 20 overs and Ervine's spell produced quick wickets and it took time for the new batsman to settle in..But they had a good competitive score at the end... Also they could have got easily 300 plus but Ervine and Blacky controlled a bit in the middle!!!!
For Durham : Solanki and Peng played well
For Somerset : Ervine had 4 wickets and Blackwell bowled tight overs!!!

SECOND SESSION :

The batsmen were not confident at first but after Blacky's arrival at the crease the phase of the game changed!!! Blacky took the control out of Durham and Ervine stood as ROCK to support Blacky.....Durham bowlers really had a tough time and they were able to pick only one wicket in the start...They almost gave up in the end... Blacky and Ervine both got to their century...remained unbeaten....ended the match in style....

Here are some screenies showing
1) Partnership of the day
2) Second session of the match.

Presentation Ceremony is to follow shortly......

PRESENTATION CEREMONY :

Durham Captain :

Well, the pitch looked pretty good for batsman right from the start!!! And we had a great start, but in the middle struggled a bit due to great bowling from Ervine who had quick wickets and Blackwell!!! I think 300+ on this track would have been a winning score... Blacky batted well ...our bowlers tried their level best in this batsmen paradise....but Somers played more well than us...
Anyways Good Luck for the upcoming games!!!!:cheers

The Winning Captain, Richard Johnson :

Its one of the great game our guys played!!!! This victory remained as a question right from the toss after we selected to bowl... But we need to take some risks... Ervine and Blacky did well...Still we have to learn a lot from the bowling department and in fieldings especially!!! Credit goes to the coach who sent Blacky as no3 suddenly...this is a turning point for us... we had a great game overall....

Thanx Johnson and good luck for the future games......

Now the man of match, it had two obvious choices who dominated today..Ervine and Blacky.... But today's man of the match goes to Ervine for the excellent allround performance....
:clap :clap :clap

Ervine :

Its a great day...we didnt expect this,as the batting remained always as a test in the top order, and i found little difficult to handle the opening slot....and Blacky told the strategies clearly and we played the good role today...So we had a nice game overall!!!!

Hope you all enjoyed this thrilling match and will be back with the next match soon......

PRACTICE SESSION...

Well, next match for Somerset is the test match against Essex!!!! Going to be a tough one!!!!

The players are practicing for tomorrow's match!!!! Just to remebr that they were defeated in last test in a big margin!!! They dont want that to happen it again!!!!

The team most probly will be the same winning combination of the last ODI!!!!

R.Johnson seems to have some trouble with his back!!!! Just one day to go...and Johnson trying hard to play tomrw!!!

That will be decided in the last moment. If Johnson is not playing, then Ervine will take responsibility!!! But a day to go!!!! So hopefully captain recovers!!!!

Stay for more updates from SOMERSET Vs ESSEX

-----------County Championship(D1)-------------

Hearty Welcome to all here for the county championship match of division1 between Somerset and Essex... :happy

Both the team expecting the great challenge but weather stands on their way!!!

WEATHER REPORT :

This is what the weather report says for next four days!!!!
weather3ap.jpg

Its going to be weather playing the major role in this match!!! Heavy forecast conditions for next few days...the probability of rain is more..We might get only few days play...so the result of this match is doubtful!!!!

PITCH REPORT :

A lot of moisture on this pitch might help the bowlers a lot for first few overs!!! Apart from this, the pitch is bowler friendly!!! So any team winning the toss, without any hesitation, might bowl first!!!! :happy

TOSS :

Essex won the toss and decided to bowl. There is no suprise for Essex to decide to bowl first.

TEAM FOR TODAY's MATCH

Here the squad for today's play for both the teams

Well, both the teams look competetive!!!!

SOMERSET LOST THEIR FIRST WICKET.....

The opening slot is becoming a serious problem in both forms of the game for Somerset!!!
Somer's opening batsman Wood played a poor shot, which turned to be a simple catch for Flower.Wood returns to pavillion for just 10 runs.
Bishop not much experienced joins Ervine in the middle. Essex in good position.
Somerset are now on 26/1.

Here is the screenie of Wood's dismissal....

SOMERSET PLAYING AT A STEADY RATE...

Ervine and Bishop, being aware of the pitch's nature, are very watchful!!! They are playing at a steady rate. The main plus point is that they are rotating the strikes which is of no risk.

So inspite of Bowler friendly pitch, both of the batsmen outsmarted the bowlers by adopting a riskless strategy i.e just luk for the bad deliveries for boundaries else go on defensively rotating the strike.Essex bowlers looking for wickets every ball and waiting for the batsman to make mistake!!!

The match is going at a steady rate and Somerset have reached 59/1 in 20 overs.

Also so for no weather interruption...But anytime rain may come into play!!!
