personally i think a test championship would be a bad idea as the spectators won't pay to watch 5 days of cricket what would be better i think is that if there was a tournament where each team were allowed a day to bat, with one innings each. It would be more of a merge between test and odi
bad idea because for the a one day game there's already the ODI's

I thought about this a few weeks ago, maybe instead of the CT, but then I realised that in reality it will never happen. For two reasons,

1)The ICC will never allow it to happen, they must love having two "ICC" tournaments and the chances are that with ODI popularity in especially the sub-continenent, the ICC would not want to lose money in the commercial aspect. So they would never scrap an ODI tournament for it and there is no other time in the FTP.

Look the the tournaments would have "ICC" in the begining but the champions trophy would have to be scrapped any way because from 2012 the 20/20 championship would be held every 2 years and if you notice there's a year in the middle where there's no ICC tournament...

2)Its impractical, can you imagine players having to do 1 test match then moving on maybe to even a different continent for the next test match. In a series you usually have practice matches to get used to the conditions, however there would be no chance for them unless you extended the Series for longer, which would tire out players more than they already are being.
AGAIN
if its idea one the the 1st game of best out of three's would start for group A then after 5 days later group Bs would start after 5 days group A's second match and so on the teams would get fives days rest after each match then they would go to the final with 5 days rest to the new region so that would be 35 days counting rest and then 1st match of the final- 40 days then 3 days break second match 48 days and then 3 days break-51 days then 3 final match 56 days all together counting rest time plus teams wouldn't have to play unnecessary games(if 1 team won the 1st 2 matches they would have to play the 3 test, kind of like in baseball). It Would kind of be like the Ashes but 2 more matches

Unrealistic. Just too long.

Like I said it would be for 45 days just like the ODI world cup and even without not to many games, you would get the most pure cricket played in the highest level by the top teams it would be top class cricket for 45 days.

With 45 days you would clearly not be able to play enough matches. 5 days per game, plus days breaks in between games.

how about A series between the top two teams would probably be a more effective way.I thought of it and had changed it but i think it is the easiest way to do it as it would just be a test series but with bit more value than your avarage series because the teams battle it out for the last to be determine who really is the best team(because the #1 & #2 team might not have played each other yet and even if they had the #2 team has a chance to take over the #1 spot and prove they are better now or vice versa) before the ranking system starts over. If the series is a draw/tie its a draw look at ODI if its a tie in the final its a tie only twenty20 has a tiebreaker

Realistically, the series has to take place in one place. The problem I have with this is:
1) What would you do in case of a draw?
2) One team only has to win 3 test matches in a row to be crowned the best test side!

Well adarsh,
its not the winning that would be taken into account here.
I said in my earlier post that we should consider the points system used in the Asian Championship

Points :

Win - 5
Innings Win - 7
First Innings Lead -2
Above 400 - 1
Above 500 - 2
Enforce follow-on- 3
And so on.....
