World Twenty20 XI

1. Matthew Hayden
2. Adam Gilchrist
3. Gautam Gambhir
4. Yuvraj Singh
5. Andrew Symonds
6. Misbah-ul-Haq
7. Shahid Afridi
8. Irfan Pathan
9. Brett Lee
10. RP Swingh
11. Umar Gul

Bit indecisive with the bowlers. I don't remember who bowled well. I guess T20 is a batsman's game after all. :p

Good team, but I'm not sure I'd have Afridi at seven - it seems a bit high for such an inconsistent batsmen. I'd probably have Pathan at seven and Afridi at eight to be promoted if in a very good position in the latter overs. RP Singh, I am very unsure about, he was very good in the World T20 and has displayed the same sort of 140kph pace in the IPL but has shown himself to be a bit hapless in Indian conditions without a ready supply of swing and bounce - but I can't think of a proven replacement for him myself.

I might have Rohit Sharma in for Yuvraj Singh - in a controversial move. Rohit Sharma has displayed superb consistency in World T20 and IPL, earning a T20 average of 49.60. He is also a far better fielder as Yuvraj's knees have turned him into a poorer fielder than he once was. Yuvraj will win matches singlehandedly, but I believe Rohit Sharma to be the ever-so-slightly better T20 player.

Good point. I am picking Afridi purely because he is a spinner, by the way. And I think batting at 7 is pretty good for him. I want to get Dimi Mascarenhas in there some where, but do not know who to replace. I think he's a useful bowler and a good hitter. If only he bowled spin... :p

Rohit is awesome. I would keep Yuvi in the top XI until he failed a few times and then stick Rohit in. :)

lol Flintoff, wow.

I don't understand why people have turned anti Flintoff, he is still amazing.

on what basis do you say that. he hasn't played a international match in a long time, he just returned to county cricket and he hasn't exactly set the world alight but I guess we make lineups based on names and popularity.

on current form Watson>>>>>Flintoff.

okay but but on class and value Flintoff>>>>>>>>>>>>Watson !!!

without a doubt he does, but when was the last time that Value and Class helped his team win a match, 05 Ashes? Thats 3 years ago since than he hasn't done much and lets not mention the disaster of the World Cup he had. Flintoff is a good player without a doubt but he hasn't done anything in the last 3 years for people to be sticking him in their lineups.
If its like that than people should put Bond in their teams because he is probably the best bowler around.

okay i accept what you say.call me a biased selector who has his own favourites. LOL. But he is a guy who can change a T20 game even if he stays in there for about 5 overs with his big hitting. And the last time i saw him bowl he bowled at around 140 KPH.The line was not good but still pace gets wickets if bowled with accuracy. One sudden fast yorker can get you wickets. He can single handedly whoop any team if its his day on the field. Just like Afridi but with a better temperament.

Hasn't exactly set the world alight ? You've obviously not read any articles about his bowling since his return. Here's one i think you should read:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/7377061.stm

Justin Langer, a fantastic world class opener saying that Flintoff's spell of fast bowling against Somerset was magnificent, saying "I was shocked at the ferocity of the Flintoff onslaught at Old Trafford...........For about an hour I could have been in the boxing ring with Joe Calzaghe and by the end of it I had literally copped a hammering.........My ribs, elbow and chest were so bruised I could have been confused for Bernard Hopkins in Las Vegas." I think that tells it all, Flintoff just coming back from injury is still as potent and threatening as ever, and I find it insulting that you think Shane Watson is a better player. He's got nothing on Flintoff.

Jolly good stuff to read, I'd love to see him back in an England shirt.

I doubt the Aussies will find it as entertaining as you do if he gets back the 2005 form. Any team for that matter.

He came back and played some 1st class cricket and did good, like he usually does when healthy. But his 20/20 game hasn't been up to his standards, his batting hasn't been what he is "capable off" and his bowling is below some other players.
When he comes back and gets some wickets in 20/20 ill be the first one to put him in my team. But you cant put a player that has been injured for a long time in your team based on what he did 1-2 years ago. As far as I knew these things were done on form and who the best players at certain positions are but its your own opinion so go ahead.

Well then why don't you have Afridi in there?? He can change the game in 5 overs more than Flintoff can.
