Worst fielders in the modern game?

Tis a BIG BIG BIG no-no :p

SA seem to thrive in 20-20 and 50 over stuff, but seem to do a lot of work on the first innings whilst fielding and have no petrol left for the second innings. You'll see because of SA enthusiasm they will nearly always take the upper hand after the first innings :p.
which might say they might just be slightly behind England and Australia in terms of fitness...

Interesting point, as they do seem to start test matches pretty well and especially against Australia seemed to fade away through the final days.

SA don't seem to field well in pressure situations, for example against Australia. Choking? :p

But boy does there pressure batting work wonders :p

They certainly seem to suffer from the odd choke the Saffers. Perhaps that catastrophic world cup defeat to Australia has had a lingering effect :p

on a personal note, i think on its day, Australia's fielding side doesnt have a par....its personal opinion that has built up through watching other teams come to Australia and get outclassed in the field...

it is Australia's strength

Theres nothing more to be said, There just big school yard bullies :p

Well i suppose they can do that, they dont win games with bat and ball, they defeat teams by wearing thin patience by just constantly waffling crap down a players ear and making them think about themselves so hard :p it drive you made im guessing.

come on are you trying to tell me Paul Nixon never says a word :D
:cheers

Lol, Steve Waugh probably won a few games simply through his sledging. Just like Flintoff when he talked Tino Best out at Lords in 2004 :D

Theres Paul Nixon's type of talk, and then theres like 11 men, or even worse, Gilly and Warne standing over you shouting down at you like your a child who is learning to play :p which is probably true as far as some of the English lads go.

The vast differnce in fielding alone is motivation and mental aspects. I know first hand English mental thinking on sport....Most folk think its just too hard to do sport, all the ferrying the kids around to all parts of the country to play, and then theres dinner to worry about, then the traing 3 times a week, ill give up is the attitude.

Australia, parents give a impression they'd cut of an arm rather than see there kid miss out on sport....which is ashame. Australians have the weather for it but its no excuse for the English, we have a bigger population which theoretically speaking we should have a few better players, ok KP, Flintoff and Panesar(Maybe? :p) are Englands only better or on par players to Australia's players

hey Merv Hughes farted at the end of one of his run ups...words are words...another one of the reasons you have to be good to get 100's against Australia and South Africa

Makes a differnce which ever way you look at it, if your patient you get past it, Fielders are easily bored. If you choose to sort it out your way, you either do it in spectacular fashion or go cheaply.

I don't know about you but this is a whole new topic :p But yeah, it certainly helps to have a few characters, Phil Tufnell fell to the pressure as so many more have.

Panesar i dont think would make the Aussie team due to his fielding...and he would be behind Brad Hogg and Stuart MacGill im certain...Flintoff and KP would certainly make the side, Flintoff would most likely bat at 7 but for Australia in ODI's... and KP would be at 4 no doubts in ODI's

Phil Tufnell only had one guy he could bowl too....Mark Waugh...

I think the fielding of Australia since the likes of the Waughs has rocketed while England have carried on increasing in skill in a very English fashion, very slow, very correct.

You never see anything eccentric from an english men, while you see alsorts from you dam aussies :p

the only thing that has gone down is slip fielding for Australia...but i think thats due to Mark Waugh, Shane Warne and even back as far as Mark Taylor retiring...they..especially the two marks..were great slippers..Ponting is good because he catches almost anything, Hayden is good but he is mainly a gully fieldsman and he is on the way out...

Clarke can field but can he slip field? maybe Hodge

Hodge is better from anything between silly point and cover area, he can dive to new zealand if needs be to catch a ball :p

I think Australia are on confidence highs 100% of the time wereas it takes a good kicking for it to be injected into England. Look at England in the field after a good catch or a brilliant stop, they talk, they shout, the put all that pressure back on the batsmen, but only when they get a kick up the arse
