Yousuf signs up again with ICL

My perspective on this whole issue is somewhat different. I honestly see no crime being committed by the ICL, the game between the two ICL and IPL is cricket politics, it will however in my mind get a bit more serious when it becomes national politics, especially in the Asian bloc, while the IPL has the backing of the BCCI and of course the ICC (they have no choice) some of the other countries that have lost cricketers to the ICL are heroes, icons in their countries, already England is feeling the squeeze of the IPL, by way of Sri Lanka not sending or rather abandoning their tour, the government of SL agreed to it, however a former icon of the game from SL, Ranatunga is saying that, no longer will players be allowed to join the IPL if there are no benefits for the SL board, and I agree with him, I mean here it is the boards from these countries, made cricketers out of these guys and the IPL is using their talents, paying them, and making money, but when come to duties for which they are contracted they can't play, or will not play and the boards stand to lose revenue. So how I see it is, sooner or later the BCCI and the IPL will have to start paying these boards, similar to what Stanford did with ECB US$3.5 million, or no longer will boards be banning their players just to satisfy the BCCI, Modi and the IPL.

And if this happen, you could see countries like Pakistan, SL, maybe even NZ, saying, wait a minute we will no longer ban players if they look to earn more money by playing in the ICL, because from what I read, the ICL in principle said that country first, if players are and would be required by their countries to play for them then they would be released, so there would not be a question of second string players trying to fill up senior teams positions because they are out playing in the ICL.
Well of course Modi is saying the SL tour to England was not part of the FTP, that is true, this was supposed to be a tour by Zim, but at the same time he Modi, is asking the ICC for a window to be created for the IPL in a plan that is already laid down till 2012, that is double standard hypocrisy if you ask me.

The long and short of it is that one way or another, sooner or later, the ICL have to be recognized, if not by simple cricket sense, then by powerful men in politics in different countries, that have the masses behind them and if they are not taken care of financially then they will bend and sway and have their best players, playing for their country again, ICL or no ICL.
Because it does not look like the ICL have anywhere going, they are growing instead, getting linked with clothing designers etc...., they are here to stay!!!

Tell me,how many ppl are watching the ICL with the same enthusiasm as they watch IPL ???

Also,I fail to understand how on earth can T20 cricket improve anyone's career ?

Where are the Tests and ODI's that the ICL talked about ? Its been two years now...What are they afraid of ? Its obvious that they know that the crowds wont turn up for ICL Tests or ODIs.

I watch the ICL with the same enthusiasm as the IPL. There are so many more interesting matches there. It is fantastic. I watch whenever I can, and I get to see a lot of cricketers I idolised when I was younger still in action such as Chris Harris, Craig McMillan, Klusener, Martyn. Also a lot fo good Indian talent there, and the sides are not afraid to innovate in field placement, bowling orders, etc. Very entertaining.

Also the IPL was given so much more hype, due to the BCCI's backing of it. I honestly really don't like the IPL, I'm all for the ICL though

He didn't move because of financial reasons, he just wasn't getting the respect he deserves that is why he left and we have suffered a major loss which can't be filled for a long time. Them saying that Misbah will cover his place, Misbah can't be compared with this classical batsman. I hope he comes back, anyways in ICL he scored 12 off 4.. nice fours.

Since this is related to Yousuf joining ICL, ill post this in here.

PCB sends show-cause notice to Yousuf

The Pakistan board has sent a show-cause notice to Mohammad Yousuf, formally banned him from all forms of cricket in Pakistan and demanded he pay them more than Rs10 million (US$ 125,000 approx) as costs incurred on litigation with the ICL. Yousuf signed with the unauthorised league earlier this week, a year after the PCB lured him away from it with the promise of a lucrative IPL contract.

"We have sent him [Yousuf] a show-cause notice and if he doesn't return the money, we will file a lawsuit in a civil court to recover money," Shan Gul, the PCB's legal advisor, said.

To be honest, even though I follow IPL more than I follow ICL, I think that ICL is way better. IPL has got all the hype they needed. On the other hand, all the best international players are playing in the IPL, when compared to ICL where a lot of the players are ones who don't get a place in the International team and stuff.

I really would love to see IPL go out of scene and ICL getting recognized!

ICL needs new kit design. Chennai are worst.

And if Dhakka is doing well tells you about the health of ICL.

Dhaka doing well is not a big thing. Anyone can do good in T20 cricket.

Pakistan's Test cricket future is in danger since Yousuf is not there. They will need a very good batsman to replace him.

Yousuf making excuses - Malik

Yousuf making excuses - Malik

Shoaib Malik, the Pakistan captain, has said Mohammad Yousuf's claim that he was forced to join the ICL because of Malik's attitude was "a smart way to make an excuse".
"It is not a fair judgment on part of Yousuf as he is the senior-most player of the team and I always respected him and had his opinion on cricketing matters related to the team," Malik told the News. "I think Yousuf has given this statement without a fair and thorough analysis of the circumstances and it is his wrong thought and claim that he joined the ICL because of my attitude. I think it is a smart way to make an excuse and I do not agree what he has said."

This stuff is so interesting:D

Merged, there's no need for another thread.

The way I see it, if his issue is being left out of stuff like T20, then he's fairly entitled to have a beef with whoever is still picking Salman Butt.

And soon afterwards, the BCCI raising hell over it.

Which will actually be great, because India and Pakistan won't play for a while and the rivalry will once again spark.

Go fer it PCB.
