Yuvraj or Laxman ?

VVS Laxman has a solid technique, and is a class act who can build around the tail. Also a good slip fielder.

While I do believe Yuvi will go on to be one of India's best batsmen (His innings today shows that), Laxman should get a spot over Yuvi. While ODIs may require young bodies and attacking players, Tests need calm heads and experience. Yuvi is still a bit too over-agressive for test cricket yet..

Laxman over Yuvi for me, although Yuvi fits right in if anyone has a run of bad scores.

Open with Tendulkar or Ganguly with Jaffer ? Yuvraj would definetly be in my India XI, fantastic player.

Naaah.. Opening with Tendulkar or Ganguly is really like commiting suicide. Test series are where you need to break your head to play according to the strategy. ;)

Laxman has a very healthy average of 60 in Australia. Not even in my second thoughts, I want to see Yuvi playing in place of Laxman in upcoming Australia series.

Dravid, Sachin, Laxman and Sourav are going to be "Fantastic Four" in Australian tour. ;)

Yea, we need a fixed opener. Jaffer should do fine, Karthik really needs to get back into form and quick. Otherwise it will be Gambhir, and that is too much of a risk.

Then VVS at three, Sachin at 4, Dravid 5, Ganguly 6, Dhoni 7, Kumble, and whatever 3 seam bowlers India can put together (But please, not Ishant Sharma over Bose! C'mon!)

So, you'd rather someone who has a chronic no ball and consistency problem and who only came to first class cricket last year to someone who has done it year in and year out for the last half dozen years in Indian domestic cricket and was top Ranji Trophy wicket taker last year, just because he bowls about 5-10kph faster?

Otherwise it will be Gambhir, and that is too much of a risk.

Why not Chopra who has outperformed Gambhir in this year's Ranji Trophy and matched him in the past few years.

Ummm...I want Bose over Sharma. Thought I made that clear?

And yes, I'd like Chopra, but realistically, he's unlikely to make a comeback. The board will more or less go with Gambhir on the basis of his ODI/T20 form.

Not in the bit I quoted:p

ODI form?

Hey, don't ask me! I don't want him playing test cricket in the first place! :p

The dropping of Bose really enforces my belief that India do not use the A team well enough, especially the bowling department. Amit Mishra should have never been in the team nor should Ashraf Makda, the squad should be restricted to those who may make the team and who may do so based on domestic performances. Bose and Gagandeep Singh should be mainstays in the A team in order to gauge how they can convert domestic form to a higher level but instead.

Probables cut fails to excite Ranadeb
A STAFF REPORTER

Calcutta: Getting into the 24-member India probables? list for the forthcoming tour Down Under didn?t excite Bengal seamer Ranadeb Bose. On the contrary, the seamer sounded low for failing to make the squad for the third and final Test against Pakistan in Banaglore, despite injuries to Zaheer Khan and Munaf Patel. ?I?m surprised? what can I say,? Ranadeb told The Telegraph from Siliguri.

Ranadeb, who toured England with the Indian side, was not considered afterwards. ?Getting into the probables has turned out to be a funny thing for me,? Ranadeb said.

?I have no reaction. I don?t expect anything more? There is no point talking about it,? an upset Ranadeb remarked.

He is horribly treated by management. You pick him for a tour, he does well in tour matches against a strong Sri Lanka A line up and he is dropped?!

He may not have a great domestic record but last year (56 wickets at 14.22) alone should have won him at least one Test, especially with four injuries to pace bowlers.

As I say again, he needs pace in his armory. His military medium wont take him anywhere. Plus this is India! You got to create a sensation if you want to stay with the side for long periods of time. Bose didnt do that! Apart from a 5 wicket haul (which came when the conditions were helpful), I didnt see him to be useful.

Looking at the way Yuvi batted in this B`lore test, I`d be tempted to have him in the side, even if it means that Dravid will have to open.
Dravid has done it in the past and he has the technique for it.
Yuvi will be a big trump card in Australia as he plays pace very well.

Yeah, who cares if Dravid gets out early, we've got Yuvraj ......

(not really)

id really pick Yuvraj over Laxman their both in good form currently but Yuvraj has that little extra bowling option and he's also a great fielder.

Laxman took a wicket in this series, so you can't say he doesn't bowl :)

Yes but do you really expect Laxman to cause trouble to the Australian batsmen with his menacing off breaks? :p

Kumble bought that wicket, he didn't take it.....

Alright, Yuvi is just pure class, I hate when he is batting against Pakistan, makes me feel we just gonne loose.
