Though you also need to purchase an appropriate fan, the heatsink is capable of beating a stock cooler by 30 degrees and often for far less noise, which is mainly why I like it. It's also particularly space efficient, as the heatpipe design allows it to be fitted with the fins on the back of the card, which also allows the fan to blow with the airflow through a PC case, rather than against it.
