While Microsoft was supposed to release Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) on April 29, 2008, the service pack only became unofficially available on the download.windowsupdate.com domain. Today, XP SP3 has officially hit the Release to Web (RTW) milestone. In other words, SP3 is available both on Windows Update and the Microsoft Download Center.

The final build of SP3 (5512) reportedly includes 1,073 fixes, including every security update, out-of-band release, and hotfix released since Windows XP SP2 hit Microsoft's servers back in August 2004. The release notes for SP3 have also been updated, as has the MUI pack. Also, make sure you know what to do with your version of Internet Explorer before installing the service pack.

Really great news:) . I was notified about this in windows update.

This is indeed a great news for the XP users. :) Although it doesn't technically bring any major enhancements, it still hast a lot of bugfixes, which makes the already secure OS, more fool proof. :)

Cheers MS. :)

Yes. its little bit faster also. See i have installed it;).

Great News. But another thing.. According to some articles I read, Support for windows XP in going to end with this service pack. Do Not expect any more service packs or major updates to windows XP from now onwards.

If you can, I would recommend switching to Vista now that SP1 has been successfully released.

Win XP will end this year.

I hoped Windows should get destroyed after 3 years. I hate working on Windows 2000 NT in my office after working on Vista.

No No not happening. I am convert now. Vista is above all. My eyes sore looking at other OS now.

Nah, the official demise is 2014, as MS has extended the OS's lifetime for specifically low-cost notebooks. ;)

So they'll keep making games XP compatible until 2014? I don't want to upgrade to Vista yet, it seems to have some problems with gaming and it's far too expensive to boot!
