It's still hard to say on the Clark and Lee front vs the Murali and Mendis. Mendis is still new and neither Clark or Lee have played a test in India. So once that changes we will have a better picture. Harmison and Flintoff are good and all but Harmy has just come back from being dropped, again time is needed.

Id have to say Murli and Mendis and than Lee and Clark.

I know this is currently, but if we go to the past...

Waqar / Wasim

/thread

But, currently speaking, Mendis & Murali. At least till Mendis can be deciphered :p (if that ever happens)

actually its Ambrose and Walsh... and than its thread closed.

Currently - Lee/Clark
Murali/Mendis

All time - Warne/Mcgrath > rest ;)

Murali sucks in ODIs now but he and Mendis can be devastating in Test matches... Vaas and Kulasekara are also doing very good for SL recently. I also think Anderson and Broad can be very tight opening pair for England in the future...

Also Abdur Razzak and Shakib Al Hasan.... when they are bowling their spells together, no other spinners can be as economical and tight as them..

I think Lee and Clark still shade Murali and Mendis, but if Mendis bowls like he has in the past series, they will rocket to the top. At present it's too early to call them the best IMO.

As for ODIs I'd nominate Mendis and Maharoof (or even Fernando/Kulasekara). Murali hasn't had an impressive 12 months, but the SL pace bowlers have. Runners up would be Flintoff/Broad and Bracken/Mitchell Johnson (yes that's right, look at the figures he's been a little better than Brett Lee in the ODIs in the last 12 months). Lee is still a better all round bowler, but Mitch suprises many batsmen and that gets him quite a few wickets.

All time best

Dennis Lillee and Geoff Thompson

Now Beat this

They are good, but there are two that are just the best bowling attack ever. These guys must be pretty good for an Indian to say this. They were the best opening bowling lineup ever.

:hpraise Waqar Younis & Wasim Akram :hpraise

I agree that they got a lot of wickets together. But if you are talking about intimidating with size, pace and bounce, then its gotta be Walsh and Ambrose by a mile. They got a lot of wickets between them too.

I've heard a lot about those guys as well, although never actually seen them play much. From what I've seen of videos and life, those were my pick. I would have loved to see them play though.

Waqar Younis & Wasim Akram are the best bowling pair ever because together they took 918 wickets in ODI and 787 in Test.

But Currently Is Murali/Mendis

Nah Waqar and Wasim were nothing in front of Lille and Thompson and Lee and Mc Grath

Laksh Balaji and Irfan Pathan just as they made their debuts bring back good memories :D

Also, the trio of Zaheer Khan, Javagal Srinath and Ashish Nehra during the 2003 World Cup was brilliant.

Ambrose and Walsh have more test wickets than Wasim and Waqar. In ODIs Ambrose and Wlash have less wickets by a good margin but they played 237 less ODIs than Wasim and Waqar.

Test Matches
Walsh
519 Wkts at 24.44
Ambrose
405 Wkts at 20.99

924 Wkts at an Avg of 22.71

This is just the sum of both their career wickets and there is no guarantee that they have played together in all matches. Legends.
