Prince Of Kolkata Set To Retire

He hasn't been unfairly treated. He hasn't performed well enough to warrant a place in your best 11 in recent times.

Then I guess you are not properly watching Indian cricket of recent times.

rofl He has been our best batsman last year in test cricket I belive but I am not sure.

Its amazing isn't it? The amount of 'Crap' people cop out about a player who was litterally forced to retire...

Bullcrap

Everyone has his day to go even Punter and Tendulkar will get such days..

shubhrayu added 0 Minutes and 43 Seconds later...

Ok so now let's wait for the new Prince of Kolkata who is the next one..

You misunderstood me. My point was why couldn't some people show respect to a player who has served India for ages, All they point out about him, Was his negatives...

I could point out loads more negatives from people's favourite players on this forum...But I don't because whats the point in life if you just think negative all the time...

I liked your attitude but all POSITIVe aobut Sourav is-

He's been one of India's Great Leaders and he has given this team great triumphs.
He's been the most Aggressive Batsman of India
He had A Fighter's Attitude
He loved Challenges
He got the Fire with Fire spirit in India

That's all Positive I know about SOurav

He was a twat. I hated him for his time at Lancs when he never looked like he cared and just didn't have any passion in him whatsoever. What a complete waste of space. He has my respect as a decent international batsman, but his attitude was awful. I won't miss him in the slightest.

I would go with you mate.

Ricky Ponting
Damien Martyn
Steve Waugh
Mark Waugh
Adam Gilchrist
Michael Clarke
Michael Hussey
Mahela Jayawardena
Kumar Sangakkara
Sachin Tendulkar
Rahul Dravid
VVS Laxman
Virender Sehwag
Jacques Kallis

Shivnarine Chanderpaul
Saeed Anwar
Younis Khan
Mohammad Yousuf
Inzamam ul-Haq

Ganguly is better than all the players in bold(ODI Format).Ganguly has scored 11,000+runs and has taken 100 wickets. He is the fifth player to do so after Sachin,Kapil Dev, Sanath Jayasuriya, Jacques Kallis. You can't compare ganguly with dravid in odi. Dravid has played more match and scored 10,000 runs but sourav has played less matches than dravid and scored 11,000 runs. He has a best score of 183.Some cricketers average is below 40.00 and Dada's average has never dip below 40!And he is the second captain for India after Kapil Dev to take India to the finals of a WC!

That was total bias rubbish, I'm sorry.

Better than KP, Stewart, Gilly, Hayden, Clarke, Hussey, Sangakkara, Smith, Chanderpaul and Flower?

Not a chance

Surprised to see so many people having no respect for this legend from Kolkata.

He's retiring for God's sake, now you guys should stop saying that there were other players who were better than him in his era because it only shows that you got some personal enemity with him. He has served his country for more than a decade and he is still one of the most entertaining and lively Cricketers ever..

Wonder what happened after he was dropped for 10 months, people just started to hate to even hear his name. Just 2-3 poor series he's had and everyone started saying he should retire. Many people always used to blame his low strike rate and running between the wicket inabilities, I guess it was never like this before those so called young guns came in to play for India starting from the T20 world cup.

People says that his running between the wicket is bad but how did he got 11,000 runs in ODI??

This is not the time to point out his negatives and discuss about it. If you dont want him to be called a 'legend', say so and end it there.

He is a true Legend.

His nicknames:-

Dada
Maharaja
Prince of Kolkata
and
Lord Snooty(Called by his county team mates)

I hope Ganguly will be a role model to the young cricketers of INDIA!!

People flippin' have noe respect for Players outide their own country, I can't wait till someone of another country so I can flippin' point out the many negatives of them. And mark my word, If Ganguly has many negatives according to you lot, Then I don't think I could fit the negatives of other players on this forum...

The thing is though, no-ones just been slagging Ganguly off and then claiming that only players from their country are better. If you look at the lists they've included players from all-round the world. I like Ganguly, I thought he was a top, top player, but I'd definitley not put him in the same bracket as guys like Kallis, Pietersen, Gilchrist, Jayawardene, Sangakkara, Hayden, Flower etc. He's a very good player though, but it's the right time to go for him, give the younger blood a go.

I haven't slagged off his cricketing ability nor have I compared him to anyone else. My point is that when he played for Lancs a few years ago his attitude was absolutely disgraceful and I think he's an utter bell end. He obviously joined us for the money, he never had even the slightest interest in the team and he was just an arse. That's why I don't like him.
