Smackdown vs Raw 09

Just grabbed it today for £21 at HMV. Best. Wrestling. Game. Ever! This game is amazing and to get it for such a cut price makes it all the more sweet! One question, we're online right now and can hear people talking: how much is a good headset for PS3? And what's the d/l content, is it extra superstars? (OK, that was two questions...)

Either way, this is one hell of a deal and an amazing game. If you like WWE, you need this game.

Haha got to lol at the defence of the TNA game, its pretty damn poor, the collision detection of the wrestlers is absolutely terrible and the amount of moves each character can perform is pathetic, fun on multiplayer for a little while, but otherwise it's terrible.

SD v RAW on the other hand is pretty decent this year, a good improvement on last years offering, but again, the lasting appeal isn't amazingly long.

I don't know, if you factor in two player or online. Even a one-off match v the AI is great fun! One thing I'd say is the colours are a touch washed out, maybe there's a brightness option in the menus somewhere. I don't like to have to turn the brightness of the actual TV up/down just for one game, not when I've got it perfect for TV viewing.

The only thing I was disappointed with is the omission of the 'General Manager Mode' from SMvR 2006 (I think). That was a really good game mode.

SVR09 is a really great game as compared to SVR08.But still the all time fav is HCTP

For me, 2009 has topped HCTP (it took a damn long time, though!) I love the fighting system, it is almost perfect. What I don't like is the camera view on one on ones when you're not supposed to leave the ring! Is there a way to force the game to retain the default angle, even if you leave the ring?

Also, is there a way to create separate profiles, so more than one person can have a 'career mode' game going at the same time? I don't mean the 'Road to Wrestlemania Mode'.

Not possible huh? That's a real pain. Why don't all games have a decent Profile manager??

Just ordered this on 360, £26 from Amazon Marketplace :D. Been wanting it for a while, finally found it for a decent price. Looking forward to going through the career mode as John Morrisson!

I like this game. I hate the fact that for every guy you create you have to go through career mode to get them to the skills you want, and that you can't pick what special abilities you get. Some like Dirty Pin, Possum Pin, will get unlocked if you keep winning, while stuff like Springboard Splash is only for Cruiserweights. That doesn't give you a lot of control.
Apart from that, you can insert your own created guys into your career mode, and draft your own rosters, so that has potential. And the gameplay is great, Springboard Splash is an amazing ability to have :D Finally justifies my constant use of Rey Mysterio against all my friends everytime we play, now I have a way to make up for the fact that that Rey isn't as strong, although in this version Cruiserweights can lift up everyone! I thought it was only for the Ultimate Control grapples and for Finishers, but seems you can do every move you want, until your lightweight guy gets tired, then you can't lift them for a bit...

That's one thing I didn't like about the game: people like Rey Mysterio shouldn't be able to lift the Big Show! Also, when are they going to let you have the ability to attack someone who's about to do a finisher/grapple on your tag-team partner???? It's like one guy will stand futilely swing his fists at the opponent, who will just proceed, unperturbed, and execute their finisher!

You can imagine my surprise when my 65Kg Cruiserweight Champion successfully suplexed Kane on my way to the Intercontinental title...:D :D

They should've retained the system where certain wrestlers couldn't lift others and had to go about it another way.

You don't have any idea of how to have two career modes going at the same time do you? There is no profile manager that I can see (PS3 version).

Haven't checked in PS2. I know you could shift between profiles in 07, maybe it is possible here? Create two profiles, and load up each separately? I don't think you can get both careers running simultaneously though.

I liked the old system too. My whole moveset was based on Non-liftup moves, like kicks, DDTs, neckbreakers, hurricanaras, and I'd used loads of running about, turnbuckle moves and submissions...

I read on a site that the damage each move does is all the same now - All standing moves do the same damage, a Chokeslam is as painful as a DDT, all that makes them different from each other is the part of the body on which they do the damage. I think this is a nice change, so now you don't need all the powerful moves to have a good build like earlier on, but just choose moves you like. I think that anyone can lift up anyone was a result of this thinking?
