Coming to think of it, the only time I remember seeing Dhoni on TV in India was for PSPO fans (which is a small company with a small budget and crappy ads) so I'm not sure where all that money is coming from and going into.

I'd be interested to see how long the list is before a lot of retired cricketers are mentioned. I guess Ganguly is proof enough that they can still get endorsed as much as current internationals, but I'm sure Gilchrist is also worth a lot.

I would take Haddin each and every time over Dhoni without hesitation. Very ordinary test record for somebody who is supposedly "great."

Nope I've seen Haddin take the game away from plenty of teams in the past. I'd back him to do that more then save a game for Australia. And please don't say Dhoni's captaincy gives him an edge, because tbh it doesn't.

Dhoni is more marketable now given hes younger than Tendulkar and he hasn't been the face of products for over a decade like Tendulkar. He also has the looks to appeal to the women, current Indian captain and early in his career he had the attacking factor which fans love.

Sachin has lost or not renewed contract with all big brands he was endorsing earlier and considering Dhoni is young, captains India and is more popular in Bollywood leads to bigger and more contracts.

Sachin has most earnings for any cricketer in lifetime though.
