FOOTBALL Fifa 10

Will FIFA 10 be the best football game going around?

Its basically Fifa 2009 but tweak a tiny bit so they can repackage it.

I'm trying to kid myself that I won't be purchasing it, but shamefully, I will.

Just played a few games on the 360 demo and it's awesome. They've taken 09 and just improved it. It's now a faster and smarter game as well as the camera being at a better place imo. The defence is better x10 and the general running is really improved. I like the shooting as well.

The general play is more realistic. I played a game where I took a shoot and the goalkeeper made a diving save and got a touch, but it slipped under his arm and rolled into the goal.

Looks to be an amazing game.

OK, you're all probably going to jump on me and maybe throw me out of the window, but I am really beginning to enjoy the PC demo. Yes, the gfx are rubbish, a downgrade if anything (but the modders will soon improve that) and my first impressions of the game overall were bad, but I gave it a chance, and now I have to say that I'm loving it. The AI is so much better and the game just seems more fluid as well. OK, it's a light year away from the console versions, but that's not my concern; it's a fun, enjoyable game. It's not worth ?30 though, but luckily for me, my college recently sent me ?15 in vouchers, so it's off to HMV to get the game on Oct 2nd, effectively for ?15. :)

I'm not happy that they didn't even try to improve the graphics. Even some minor details would've been nice.

I think it's a wise move from EA sports to just improve on fifa 09 in what was a very good game. To be honest I'd rather them do a few little nice touches to an awesome game than just completely re-do the game.

Well I downloaded 1.5 GB of the demo which would have taken 12 hrs to finish (50 kb/s) before my computer decided to restart and loss all that data so I won't try the demo.

To be honest, I thought the demo was an utter joke. They've basically placed this 360 movement into an engine that doesnt have the correct animations for it, resulting in the ball moving differently to the players - it looks stupid, and doesnt add anything from the old 8 directions. Even worse, the AI doesnt even take advantage of it, they only work on the old sytem of 8.

The collision system is weak, they appear to have actually removed animations from 09. It's easy to disposses a player by simply running into him at speed, with that stupid stumbling animation kicking in, usually when it shouldn't. The ball physics have been tightened, but the ball still rotates and doesn't actually curl the way it should off most shots, and still feels a fixed entity rather than an individual object.

Can't believe they haven't even bothered to fix the chicken wire nets.

The graphics are an eyesore. No AA, the turf is frightfull, the player models are disproportionate, the ball is actually too small now, the keepers are erratic, and the crowd is weak.

I honestly urge you not to support it in any way. EA rehash this series every year, and it's time people realised that they are being ripped off. The modders might be able to do a bit with the ball physics, but that won't change the fact that the product is plain terrible out of the box. With this policy towards the PC, EA deserve bad sales figures, negative reviews, boycotts etc. After playing the 360 version quite a bit over the past few days, the difference is so big it's criminal. Until EA realise that they are missing a massive trick in Europe, especially in the UK and Germany where PC gaming is big business (and Konami have the majority of there sales), they'll continue to release this sort of drivel every year. And that shouldn't be supported.

PC Version: I just played the demo and while it's better then FIFA 09, it's still rubbish for reasons pingusten has already mentioned. The system is ridiculously unresponsive. I can't direct my players the way I want to and I can't pass the ball in the direction I want to properly either. Even though these are rare occurences, they still make this game absolutely terrible. And what 360 dribbling are they talking about? I don't see anything!

I'll be buying a PS3 slim soon as I've said in another thread (or was it this thread). This'll be my first game for it. Expecting big things from the NGC version.

I will be checking out the PES demo as well of course, but it needs to be amazing for me to get the game - there's just not enough going on off the pitch, compared to Fifa, and without much happening off the pitch, I'll get bored. Speaking of PES, there's something called 'RM Engine' which is supposed to stick a management engine on the front of PES, has anyone heard anything about it? Is it out yet, or is there a demo? For me, PES 5/6 + something like RM Engine would be football heaven (pending what my impressions about PES 10 are, of course).

I'll probably get it either way for BaL (which I loved last year), especially given that it's been improved now and has the CL implemented.

My first impressions of the PC version were very bad, but I changed my mind after playing it for a bit. I also fired up the Fifa 09 demo again and alt-tabbed between the two and there are several noticeable differences. It's still a bloody disgrace about the recycled graphics though.

Haha, that has to suck.

Just get it on console or get PES.

I'm leaning towards PES more and more. I don't know if I can be happy with these recycled graphics, even though I do enjoy the gameplay.
