PC version has a new man at the helm: Luke Didd. Hopefully, we can rename him 'Luke Didgood'.

Time will tell...

But I am trying not to get my hopes up. ;)

With lines like that, well, the worlds your oyster.

Man, I love Fifa games, this will be definite purchase. Nothing like getting your ass kicked by a mate over XBL :D

I'm looking more forward to PES 2010 this year(ps3) because 'I got told' by someone that Konami have been working on this version before PES 08.

Unless they really step up the PC version I'm not buying it, not even on an Xbox 360 even though I might be getting it next month.

From EA's forums:

So you’ve read our FIFA 10 next-gen articles and you’re thinking, what about those who play FIFA on PC?
Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about you. This year EA have responded to those asking for further gameplay refinement, adding a new feature called “Team-Styles”. Once again here is a list of notes featuring everything EA had to say about the PC version of FIFA 10 during the presentations at both events.

EA’s response to next-gen
Team-Styles?
FIFA 10 gameplay fundamentals
• More responsive gameplay
○ Slightly faster transition
○ More fluid animations
○ Improved heading and crossing
○ Improved player switching
○ Simple to do skill moves
○ Auto-evade slide tackles
• Updated collision system
○ Less colliding with team mates
• Improved teammate support
○ Improved teammate support runs
○ More passing and crossing actions
• Improved goalkeeping
○ New GK distribution (pass based on Team-Styles?)
○ Improved deflections and variation
○ Quicker off the line in one-on-one situations
• Updated set-pieces
○ Quick throw-ins and free-kicks
• Game settings
○ New authentic game speed
○ Legendary difficulty added
Team-Styles?
• 26 different team-styles
• Attacking and defensive style for every club
• Authentic AI will play more like real life team
• Commentary feedback as the play and style unfold
• Custom styles – 14 different options
Pre-match scout report
• Learn oppositions tactics and strong/weak players
Refined online gaming
• Fixed disconnect issue
• Fixed “ready to play” issue
• Fixed slow frame-rate issue
• Made logging in more straight-forward
• Friends list and messaging service
Refereeing improved
• Improved referee intelligence
• Improved linesman and referee animations
Graphical enhancement
• Untucked shirts
• New gameplay HUD
• More cinematic emotion
• Cultural NIS scenes
• Stadium attendances shown in crowd
• Supporters wear club colours
Finally, the big question… Why is there no next-gen engine on PC?
It’s down to the fact that not everyone has a high-end PC, but in time it will get closer. Currently only 10% of consumers have machines capable of running the next-gen engine.

If the game has 50% of those improvements, it'll be well worth buying.

I still say the last line is a load of rubbish though, especially when it comes to graphics.

I think it's probably true. My PC can't run FIFA 09 on the lowest setting!

Last year it was only '5%'.

Forget it, I'll either stick with PES5 or see how PES2010 turns out. If they don't port the engine over, it's still same old, same old.

I think FIFA 09 was pretty mucht he best game of console football there's ever been so there isn't really too much more we need. But I do want is a more in depth player editor (I want the virtual me to be as beautiful as the real me) with more boots and stuff to play with. Yes I know that is a superficial thing to want but as I said, there isn't really that much too improve. Besides, with alpl the licensing FIFA has you'd think it wouldn't be too hard to throw in a load more official merchandise.

Oh yeah and I want a licensed face for Jack Rodwell. He's awesome.

Have you tried putting your picture in PES 2009's BAL mode? The results (for me, at least) were amazing accurate; all EA need to do is use that feature for Fifa 10.

The console versions of this sound fantastic :)

Sounds great :).

A good Manager Mode with intelligent teammate and opponent AI with 360? dribbling and manual passing should be fantastic .

360? dribbling is revolutionary, I thought we wouldn't see it until the next set of consoles, it will open the game up so much and give you so much more freedom.

The PC version is still the rubbish old polished PS2 port, it seems PES will be the only real option again for the PC this year. Konami though will have to really do something special with PES unless it will be crapped on again by EA and FIFA for the third year running, and judging by the pointless trailer they just released, it looks like being the case.

You can't say that the PC version will be rubbish yet; we haven't seen any screenshots or videos and they didn't release such a huge list of improvements for Fifa 09, they just kept babbling about the damned mouse control and collisions 'system'.

Obviously, EA's recent track record is no cause for optimism, but you never know, they just might get it right this year. Either way, I'll be holding fire on both games until I've heard some reader reviews.

And if it is rubbish on PC, we'll get it on PS3. There's one huge thing that needs fixing with PS3 version of Fifa 09 though: what's with 'game over' if you get fired?? Doesn't happen with PC version!
