Just for fun, which currently active player (only one and from another Test nation) do you think would make the biggest impact/improve your favorite Test team.

Since I dont have a "national side" Ill do a few:

England : Ricky Ponting to bat at 3

South Africa: Daniel Vettori to replace Harris/Test spinner

India: Dale Steyn to lead the pace attack

Pakistan: Graeme Smith/ Gambhir to open the batting

Sri Lanka: Dale Steyn to lead the pace attack

NZ: Graeme Smith/Gambhir to open the batting

AUS: Harbhajan to replace Hauritz

Australia: Ajantha Mendis, a leggie to bowl as our frontline spinner. Obvious one really, a spinner who can rip through a line-up what we need.

On a batting front, JP Duminy, a solid young batsman, who also bowls spin.

sri lanka could do with mitchell johnson. they need a fast bowler that can bat to lengthen their tail.

Ah true, good point, Vaas could bat a decent bit, guess their tail is a lot longer now that he is gone.

Definitly a spinner for Aus, I picked Harbhajan simply because I dont know how Mendis would do in Aussie conditions

For the West Indies it would probably be Michael Clarke to come in at #5 and give some real stability to the middle order.

Harbhajan I'm not sure about. A bit old now, and Mendis would inject some youth into the side.

Plus he hasn't really been figured out yet. But yeah, it'll be interesting to see how he goes in a test match in Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane and the MCG. All different types of pitches, and different spinners have succeeded on each ground.

Mendis in tests isn't much of a threat but in ODIs he would be really useful.

Can it be former players also, or only confined to current players?

Current players: Dale Steyn for India (I agree with Hmarka)

Former Player: Ian Botham for India (we need an big allrounder right now)

Id like to keep it to current players but go nuts.

all the teams with the weak batting lineups will go for Bradman. Its a much tighter competition when it comes to to bowlers. Fans of India would probably go for Imran Khan to complete their team.

For India we'd definitely need a good consistent pace bowler and Dale Steyn is the first person who comes to mind. I wouldn't mind if we had someone like Kemar Roach, a good young pace bowling prospect.

New Zealand could do with some capable openers at the test level. I saw Smith and Gambhir mentioned but I wouldn't mind Strauss opening the batting for us.

For South Africa, we definately need a wicket taking spinner but they seem to be less common everyday. Murli is too old and Mendas isn't as dangerous as when he first came out. I guess I would want to bring in either Harbijan or maybe Hearath.

Interesting that us and SA have the same problem :p
Bangladesh either need a paceman or a batter.

For the above by Hmarka, I would probably replace Steyn with Bond, but that is just me. I really like what he does.
