Thirteen players to watch - Peter Roebuck

i thought i was gonna read something new, but this is the most obvious ████. nothing new... and its funny how he says

And, just for a change let's start with the unfashionable nations, though not before begging forgiveness for omitting any players from Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. Talent abides in both nations but little is seen of them and it's hard to pick anyone out with any confidence.

its your job to do the research and find out stuff. so you write obvious stuff, and you dont keep track of things

Nothing really original there. Would have preferred it if he had chosen one country and done some kids from there.

The write up was really good to read though.

I don't understand why some people are making such a huge deal about the list. Dont like it? Make your own and post it in the Articles sub forum and we will say what we think about it.

The guy could have written about Sehwag, KP, de Villiers, Clarke, Bravo, Gambhir and taken the easy way. These are the names that were posted the most in our thread "Player of THIS Decade".
rahuldravidfan is making a big deal about the list but here are his choices
Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja (if he stays consistent) Pragyan Ojha, Kane Williamson, Irfan Pathan (Yes, he'll be back), Shaun Marsh, Zaheer Khan, JP Duminy, Shahid Afridi, Jerome Taylor, KP, Dilshan

Agreed, nobody can debut and dominate.
Well at least the guy got some balls and named some players who arent even close to playing for their countries.

I don't see Adil Rashid going very far as a bowler tbh. Not really attacking enough, and as a leggie that's a problem. Doesn't really have any variations.

Well the good thing about Rashid is that he is only 21 (almost 22) and that he already has double the experience then most bowlers his age. For a 21 year old spin bowler his domestic record is really good, 171 wickets from 53 matches. He is gaining experience by being on most of these tours that England go to and he has already played some ODIs. He has what it takes to be a good spinner.

He's only 21 though, and I'm guessing your've only watched him play in one day games. Leggies don't mature until they're in their mid 20's usually, Rashid still has plenty of time.

Actually Hughes debuted in 2009, I was talking about players that are still new even in FC.

BTW why quote me from another thread? These 2 threads are completely different.

A point you bring up a lot :p

Fair enough though, I didn't realise he was so young. IMO the Poms would have been better off bringing him in to replace Flintoff.

Would have liked to see Cheteswar Pujara's name in that article. Personally, I rate him as a better player than Kohli. What a pity that he is yet to make his debut in the international arena!
