'I don't rate India a long-term No.1'

tbh, chappell was making the point that australia were clearly better and india had not seriously challenged australia's dominance, and I agree with him. it's completely obvious.

But it became a debate from that about india not challenging india even when they went head to head, which india very clearly have done.
Yes, Chappell was completely right on his points. However, as I have mentioned before, the only part I don't agree with is him placing India along with all the other teams as not "catching up" with the Aussies. While the Indian team was still miles off the Aussies, they had put some distance between themselves and the other teams when it came to competing against the Australian team.

I don't think Chappell is saying Indian bowling sucks.

I would have been the happiest man if he had said that, because it's true. :laugh

Shane Warne wasn't really smacked either his runrate against India was only 3.07.

If you take off the ones that Sachin has faced, then it should be even lesser I believe. Even this morning, I saw that magnificent/lonely/MOTM/captain innings from Sachin during his only poor tour of Aussies. :p It's always nice to see Warne rubbing his head after getting smashed by Sachin :D Those were great olden days.

Indian team did not create any dominance in first place. Yes, Australian team is clearly better because they have/find a balance in their composition. Even if a fast bowler go, they find another quality. But for us, it's pathetic that we are still not able to produce a genuine quick bowler for more than a decade. This is not an excuse, but a bitter fact. :(

To be honest, SA is better side of these two. Well, it would be a different story!:D

Irfan Pathan was a really Bowler..

Was he? :rtfl

Even i dont rate India a long-term No.1. But at the moment India is at No. 1 so enjoy while it lasts.

And the Indian pace attack now is far better than 2003/4. We had Nehra, Agarkar and a debutant Irfan in the test lineup then. Zaheer got injured after taking a 5er at the GABBA.

Nehra, Agarkar, Balaji Vs RP, Ishant, Sreesanth, Munaf ? :laugh Yes, all are VERY GREAT bowlers of our decade :sarcasm Every time there comes a statement that Indian bowling is weak, that statement is shadowed by another statement, " We have Zaheer in our line up ". Now my question is, how many Zaheers we have in our line up? Even if it's one Zaheer, are we getting consistent champion output from the pace department? Well known answer is NO!

So what India should do is just pick 19 year old bowlers as thats the time where they seem to peak in their careers.

True for most indian bowlers.....
They wont remain no1 unless they get a genuine fast bowler in the team.

So true. I guess we would be watching his innings when we would be 80 years old with our grandsons and even then we would enjoy them......

I don't think anyone will dominate world cricket in test matches like it was done by WI and Australia for quite some time.

India was not good enough to challenge any side in past and now somehow manage to win matches due to luck.

As for Chappell, leave India even South Africa could not pip Aussies from top slot (apart from a farcical small period). You rate them as long term number 1 when they cannot even win at home. :p

Indian bowlers bowl without a cricketing mind they are lucky if they get wickets.

I will agree that our bowlers are not having the best of times ATM, but to say that they don't have any "cricketing mind", and get wickets only when they are "lucky" is a massive exaggeration. Care to back your statement?

Most of our wins are based on strong batting than strong bowling. Eventually to win test matches you have to take at least 16-20 wickets of opposition so our bowlers are bound to have good average in won matches.

But i still think that indiashould do more work on their bowling battig is great but itsthe bowling derpatment that i fell india struggle a bit

Worry points for India:
1. Dravid, Laxman and Tendulkar have few matches left now
2. Yuvi is crap in test matches
3. No real quality spinner coming up
4. Leave fast bowlers, we do not even have a decent medium pacer after Zaheer. Zaheer is injury prone and I do not see him lasting long like McGrath or Pollock.
5. Selectors love Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik
