India Cricket News: Cheteshwar Pujara sharpening bowling skills | ESPN Cricinfo

This is what I hate, we try to add up unnecessary changes to people that don't deserve those changes. I am sure he must be given a sign or something from the big bosses in Dhoni and Fletcher regarding this. With enough criticism and people wanting Pujara in the ODI side, apparently he is working on his bowling skill. I just hope we do not end up losing a talent just as we did with Irfan Pathan. We tried to make him an all rounder we lost his magic swing. I do not want to lose Pujaras batting as we need him for Tests. Not that practicing bowling would degrade his batting but his focus should be only on batting fielding and not on all three.

This happens only in India. I am pretty sure he was given feelers by Fletcher (and maybe even MSD) to work on his bowling.

And if that is the case, the quicker we get rid of Fletcher the better off we will be. We have seen nothing but failures with him, and I don't know what more does he need to do for us to finally end his term with the Indian team. And the lesser we talk about Rohit, the better. That guy is just useless baggage the team is being forced to carry around. And all in the name of 'natural talent'

EDIT: God Forbid, we actually somehow manage to win the World T20. All these overseas DISASTERS will be forgotten, and Fletcher will stick around for yet another eternity.

Failure in World T20 leading to the coach's ouster might be the only thing that can help India in posing up some challenge during the 2015 World Cup. Otherwise, we might as well give up on our hopes of defending the World Cup.

Sunny is spot on ! I think he is just echoing, what all of Indian cricket's well wishers have been thinking for the past year or so.

I am with Sunny- immediately kick out Fletcher and his favorites from the team. This is too much ....:mad

I really am fed up of this entire team. Its really time where they get their socks up and start thinking sensibly. Right now all Dhoni is thinking is Batting wins matches but thats not true, its a team sport bowlers play an important part too. Batting was India's advantage when other teams actually did not have big hitters, now with T20 format and more competition there is no inferior team and come on they have to start accepting the fact that the current Indian Batting lineup isnt the great and too inexperienced.

We to have any chances to defend 2015, need to have 2 good bowlers whose run of form should start now and end once the WC is over :p and atleast 3 batsman including Kohli baring Dhoni who could take responsibilities and have power hitting in them when needed.

As an Indian fan supporter have seen some of the most amazing and astonishing wins and games which made me cheer but barring England, Indian supporters have seen the greates negative side of their team too

Sunny was a great player on the field but he is a dumbass off the field. Whether it is commentary or making comment on certain players. Last year when Fletcher's contract was about to expire he said Gangully should coach team India and now he comes out saying Dravid should coach India. After we lost the home series against England in late 2012, he said Dhoni should be removed as a captain and when we whitewashed Australia, he again strikes saying Dhoni's captaincy should not be bothered till 2019. I mean if you are taking a stand, than stay on it rather than jumping around everywhere and drawing conclusions on everything.

Back on the topic, it's absolutely joke that he has to bowl to get in the team. Pujara has second highest List A average in the world I think and that guy can't get into our final 11.

Lol

It is very foolish of selectors that they are not giving chance to Pujara and are forcing him to start bowling. I think Indians are lucky ones to have batsmen like Kholi and Pujara.
Now talking about Sunny, he has gone too old to comment on anyone. Every player in the squad has talent and thats why he is there. No one has any right to complain against Dhoni. He is the one who has given us so many wins be it world cup or number one test position.

:facepalm

And the other ten players were sleeping at home fully drunk right? :rolleyes

Indian cricket is in tatters, half of the fans are Dhoni's worshippers and call themselves cricket fans just by watching the IPL. The Board is just a massive joke, and is quite partial to the deserving players.

It's rather CSK politics than Indian Cricket. Dhoni is just helping the players he wants in the team and neglecting deserving players.

EDIT: If Raina, Vijay and Ashwin can play after failing almost about every time, why can't Pujara even play one match?

I am die hard Msd fan. But at the same time I also do not like Ashwin, Raina and Vijay. I agree with you that Pujara should get a chance and he deserves it.

The fact is that Pujara is maybe Rahul Dravid the second, he has impeccable technique, and with Kohli, he can form a good partnership in the middle, solves the long lasting middle-order problem. It pains to see such a gem not getting selected.

Tbh, I do not see a reason why Pujara should be forced to bowl. India did decently with 4 specialist bowlers and few part timers (read Ganguly, Tendulkar and Sehwag). It is not that they do not have part timers in the current setup. Kohli can bowl a bit and Rohit have a couple of hattricks in T20 cricket to his name so he is obviously handy with the ball. Jadeja is always there as the fifth bowling option anyway so the fact is this side has more good bowling options than the side which had India's Fab four. Again, in case of dire need, Shikhar Dhawan can roll his arm for a few overs as well if Dhoni resists his love to bowl with the cherry. India's ODI team has even more bowlers in Rayudu/Yuvraj and Raina there is no real need for Pujara to learn bowling at this stage of his career unless he is going to bowl seam up at 125 kmph+ which I do not see happening. Anyway, don't you think it will be an alarming situation for the Indian team to be in when they would need someone like Pujara to come in and bowl? I just hope concentrating on bowling does not hamper Pujara's batting might. After all he is not that used to bowl and bowling is one of those things that you need to catch up early to be successful.
