Irfan Pathan Back On Track. Is this his new begninning?

It's also one major reason... All Rounder Tag Given By Greg

That match hurt a lot. We had them down for something like 35/6 but ended up losing! :rtfl

Yeah, I dont even want to remember that match.:D

But right now with many bowlers being useless, Irfan feels a lot better to me atleast in the sense that he can be relied upon to contribute with the bat and he can give lesser runs per over than some of the other options that we have tried so far (like Yusuf Pathan, Ravindra Jadeja).

SaiSrini added 1 Minutes and 12 Seconds later...

Irfan also let his success go to his head. He started talking to too many people and tinkering with his action.

Same with his brother too. Both come from poor families and they tasted success pretty quickly.

Lets see him do it at International level first. Would be a shame to see him just die away after his start.

i just hope Irfan makes a comeback like Sreesanth. I would rather have Irfan instead of yusuf pathan. Yusuf is never helpful. I think he averages less than Ishant sharma in his last 20 -25 matches. We lost a T-20 today because he didn't do anything as well as others but he is not even close to consistent. Irfan should get his form back and come back to the team.

Good, but he wasent really able to swing the ball which he used to do very regulalry, specially, he had the ability to bring ball in for right hander, if at all he again masters that he will be regularly in team...

We need the old Irfan back in our team. He was a more than handy batsman but it was his bowling that let him down in the end which was why he ended up being dropped. If he can keep performing well consistently in domestic cricket then I'd like to see him given a chance in the ODI side or Twenty/20 side. What he really needs to focus on is getting his line and length right and not relying too much on swing.

India lost it badly too, by 341 runs!

Pathans a gem for India though. Good seamer, and can bat anywhere in the order. Even opened against the Aussies a couple of years ago!

He's a level-headed fella. He's young and awesome. He'll be back soon :)

Irfan is still pretty young and there's ample time for him to get back into the main picture. Wouldn't expect the lad to be the same Irfan of 2004, though. But half a loaf is always better than no bread. ATM, if he can be even forty percent of what he used to be when he first started his career, he'd become a regular in the team within months.

Irfan "minnow basher" Pathan. If you take out his record against Zimbabwe and Bangladesh his bowling average shoots up from 100 at 32 to 61 at 45.5.

I never really saw what the fuss was tbh, but I've really only seen him bowl since 06.

Irfan was never a good bowler in Tests. But that being said, I think you would find the guy's ODI records, of the first three years of his career, pretty impressive. The fact that he averages below 14.76 against England, and 20.33 against South Africa proves my point. He could well have been the same type of a lethal bowler in Tests too, had he continued with his initial consistency. But he faded away from the international arena sooner than he had emerged. It was partially because of Mr Greg Chappell, who used to make him the sole guineapig of all his "experiments", and partially because of his own self-complacency.

Hope he makes a comeback with his same sharp swing.. but now he has to consider even line and length which he failed on track's which did not help seam bowler's

Greg Chappell certainly didn't do Indian cricket any good, but he did give it the kick-up the ass it needed at the time.

Yes mate, he did no good for indian cricket as a team but he gave a kick start to team of a series of win like 5-2 against Eng 6-1 against SL
Lost 4-1 against West Indies though.. but still taking revenge at home winning i suppose 3-0..

But he created many contraversies... Like the one showing Middle Finger To Crowd and Media:p
