New Zealand are in a slump. 7th in the Test rankings and 3rd in the ODI ranks have seen performances drop, heads drop and ultimately, their fans drop.

This story will follow the Blackcaps on the road for two years, starting in South Africa for the first ever Twenty20 championship, and ending in Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy.

The schedule for the year is as follows:

- Twenty20 Championship (AWAY, South Africa)
- Australia (AWAY)
- South Africa (AWAY)
- England (HOME)
- England and Scotland (AWAY)

- ICC Champions Trophy (AWAY, Pakistan)

With the players at home just once in the next two years, it is going to be tough. But with key players like Bond, Vettori, McCullum, and new prospects like Ross Taylor and Lou Vincent, this is going to be one heck of a ride.

New Zealand arrive in Cape Town

The Blackcaps have touched down on South African soil ahead of the first ICC Twenty20 Championship. The tournament, which will feature 12 teams in four groups is underway in just under a week, and the Kiwis arrived bright and early on Saturday morning.

Later that day, the team begun their first training session at the beautiful Centurion Park.

Brendon McCullum returns a throw in training

The last event of the day was the confirmation of the fifteen man squad and the new ODI captain, following Fleming's resignation. Scott Styris takes the reins of a pretty predictable team:

1. Scott Styris [C]
2. Stephen Fleming
3. Daniel Vettori
4. Hamish Marshall
5. Shane Bond
6. Jeetan Patel
7. Lou Vincent
8. James Franklin
9. Ross Taylor
10. Peter Fulton
11. Daryl Tuffey
12. Andre Adams
13. Jacob Oram
14. Brendon McCullum [WK]
15. Craig McMillan

Have to see how Fleming plays as a nonskipper. Interesting job for Styris now.. Hope they have a good start under new captain! :)
