India in a good position at this moment but the big disadvantage is that Kumble will just bat and won't bowl. Who will take the wickets for India now?? I hope India get a big lead to be in a comfortable position.

Awesome work as always Trev :clap

Plunkett and Vaughan heroics not enough to stop England from failing

daythreeupdateaw3.jpg

Kumble was batting with a broken finger, and could only hold out for 18 balls
before he also edged off Plunkett, this time to Strauss in the slips. India had
made just 272 when it looked to be around 350 at tea on day two.

England came out after the innings break looking to build a solid lead and give
themselves a chance of victory. This ambition was soon abolished after
Andrew Strauss got a pair, lasting only 2 balls, edging to Jaffer at 1st slip.
Alistair Cook again had a poor innings, making just 1 before in the 3rd over
Khan got his 2nd wicket. A full ball swinging away from the left hander which
dragged Cook into a shot that caught the edge and through to Dhoni for a
simple catch.

Pietersen and Vaughan steadied for a bit until Pietersen fell to Sachin
Tendulkar again. A spinning delivery that turned sharply from leg to off and
caught the top of the off stump.

Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals, with Collingwood, Bell and Prior
all losing their wicket cheaply. Collingwood was run out by Karthik for 14, Bell
made just 2 from a slow 19 balls before he was bowled by Virender Sehwag.
Prior became Sehwag's 2nd victim as he was trapped lbw by the off spinner.

Vaughan and Sidebottom defiantly batted out the last session. Vaughan
finished on 108 not out, which included 9 fours. Is hundred came up in 154
balls off the bowling of Sourav Ganguly. Vaughan and the tail have a lot of
work to do if they wish to set India a relatively good target to chase and then
it's up to the bowlers to take early wickets and put the Indians under
pressure.

Great innings by Vaughan but still its not enough to stop India from winning this match. May be if England get 70-80 runs and if they bowl well after that then India will have to work hard. Awesome graphics mate :clap

Lancashire prevail in Liverpool

tourmatchlancashirevssrtx2.jpg

The Sri Lankan's starter their reply very well chasing 228 for victory. An
opening partnership of 132 between Udawatte and Perera set up the perfect
platform for the win. Once Lancashire got rid of Vandort for the 2nd wickets
thing started to fall apart. Warnapura was run out for 0 and soon after Perera
fell just 3 short of his century. The remaining batsmen just couldn't hit the
ball well enough thanks to the pitch and good Lancashire bowling. They fell 11
runs short of Lancashire's total thanks to 2 wickets from Tom Smith and 1 a
piece for Newby and Hodge.

Northants and Notts play out bore draw

lvcountychampionshipdivbs1.jpg

Notts replied in fine style, Gallian getting Notts off to a slow but sure start. He
made 94 from a massive, 299 deliveries. David Hussey made sure that Notts
were not going to lose the game, scoring 138 in 236 balls. All the batsmen
got starts, and it was no surprise that Stephen Fleming waited until they had
a healthy lead before they declared on 609/7. Lucas took 3/142 for the home
side.

Notts' hopes of getting a win were shattered thanks again to the opening bat
of Stephen Peters. He scored another fine 82 from 170 balls, to scrap any
idea of Notts grabbing a vital win in their hopes of promotion. Northants
skipper David Sales hit an unbeaten 58, with Mark Ealham the best with the
ball, taking just the 1 for 36 runs.

Naved 4 for gets Sussex off and running

natwestpro40div1update2uw4.jpg

Bottom of the table Warwickshire finally got off the mark, beating Gloucestershire
by 1 wicket in a thrilling match affected by rain. Warwickshire captain Darren
Maddy elected to bowl first, and when the rain came down after 15 overs, it
proved to be a good decision. The match was reduced to 35 overs, and the
home side, Gloucestershire, managed to make it to 170/5. Craig Spearman hit
a steady 59 backed up by 41 from 47 balls by Kadeer Ali. Warwickshire lost
regular wickets, but thanks to their overseas batsman, Kumar Sangakkara,
they managed to creep a 1 wicket win. The Sri Lankan man hit a fine 44 from
69 deliveries under pressure from some very tight bowling by Gloucestershire.
Jon Lewis lead by example taking 3/39, but the Warwickshire bowlers managed
to send them over the line with 1 wicket in hand and 2 balls remaining.

In the game down at the Rose bowl, Essex threw away a great chance to win
their first game of the competition, losing by 8 runs. The game was reduced
to 25 overs after the rain came down shortly after the toss. Both sides
struggled on a damp surface, Hampshire managing 122/3 in their 25. Lumb and
Crawley hit a nice opening partnership, both scoring 40's. 21 year old Jahid
Ahmed took 3/16 in a brilliant spell from the youngster. Essex replied with
a steady start as they found it hard to get the boundaries. Pettini hit a fairly
quick 41 from 59 considering the conditions. Middlebrook struggled to 33 in 62,
as tight bowling from Hampshire prevailed. Mascerenhas took 1/28 in 5 overs,
as Essex fell short by 8 runs.

India is looking favorites still to me. Hope they can win this match inspite of the few injury problems they had. Nice presentation as always Trev!

All-Rounders feast in Division 2

natwestpro40div2update2ny9.jpg

Glamorgan finished off a good week with another win, this time at Middlesex's
dispense. Youngster James Harris was again the star with the ball, as he took
a tremendous 4/33 from his 8 overs. Nobody made a half century in the match,
which was heavily dominated by the bowlers from each side. Jimmy Maher
scored 47, Croft 44 and for Middlesex it was Morgan with 38 and Smith with 34.

Somerset slumped to a 7 wicket loss against Yorkshire, thanks to a fine
captain's performance from Craig White. He got it right throughout, firstly
putting Somerset into bat on a damp wicket in overcast conditions.
Trescothick and Wood top scored with 34 and 33 respectively, whilst White
was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets. Yorkshire kept wickets in hand
and won with 7 balls to spare, White again on form with 59. But it was
kolpak player, Jacques Rudolph who did the damage, hitting a magnificent
76 from 106 balls.

Derbyshire got their second win in 2, beating Kent by 18 runs at the County
Ground. Travis Birt hit a wonderful 64 in quick time and Greg Smith hit a
ferocious 35 at strike rate of 225. Simon Cook took the most wickets, but was
very expensive, going for almost 60 runs from his 8 overs. Joe Denly and Robert
Key put on a fine opening stand, both of them scoring 40's. From then on
though it was on way traffic. Smith taking 2 wickets to cap off a fine game,
with Kent falling 18 runs short at 217/7.
