2nd Day Ist test

Tony Cozier: Welcome back to Kingston for start of 2nd day. As expected we r having a clear day. A quick reply from crowe.

martin Crowe: Yes bright start to the day hope NZ do the same as well.

Nz start the day at 0/1 at 4 overs. But soon they loose Richardson caught behind of edwards.

Astle comes in a agressive passion and drives edwards for a thundrous cover drive. NZ reach 20-2 after 8 overs

NZ gains 56 run lead

NZ are bowled out for 200 0dd runs with a vital 56 runs lead.

Ian Smith: Well a very crucial lead there for Nz. I hope they utilize it well by taking few early wickets.

Ian Bishop: Yes good value contribution from the lower order that really helped them. the tail certainly wagged though.

Ian Smith: Ur thoughts abt WI II innings.

Ian Bishop: Well they should really apply themselves. Not a bad wkt has something in it for the bowlers. well they should be a bit more selective in their shots.

Ian Smith: Well we hope the WI do the same. Lets join Tony Cozier and Martin Crowe for the Commentary as the Players come out.

WI begin their reply with decent approach Gayle pulled and drove bond for 4s

WI looked good but soon Joseph was dismissed

WI are 168-4 at almost end of day 2

Sarwan who looked superb was a bit too agressive in his approach and was stumped for 32

Lara was pick of the batsman for WI as he made a gorgeous 76 that had 13 bdry.

Lara was a perfect picture today as he played almost all shots in the book.
From hook to sweep, from st drive to late cut.

But he too perished holding out to long off of vettori. C'paul and smith are at grease

WI lead by 107 runs with 4wkts in hand

Tony Cozier: Well decent performance but some players threw theirs wkts away .

Martin Crowe: Ya disapoints me as was waiting for Lara to make a big one. But got over attacking and perished. But he was absolutely brilliant man.

Cozier: What do u think abt state of pitch?

Crowe: Boy it looks a beauty to bat. Anything less than 300 NZ win comfortably. WI in trouble.

Tony cozier: Yes but I hope they give a fight.

NZ need 174 to win the first test

WI have been bowled out for 229 in their second innings giving NZ 174 to win in the last innings.

The highlights of the WI innings was fine 50's by lara and C'paul. But both threw their wkts away.

Al the lower order batsman were too indiscipline with the bat that NZ got very quickly.

C'paul raised valuable runs for the last 2 wkts before being bowled by Astle.

Astle was the surprise package as he took 3 wkts including C'pauls.

Tony Cozier: Well a poor performance by WI to get 229. Reckless batting performance with none of the batsman showing the patience.

Ian Smith: yes but we have to give credit to Kiwis that they pegged around the off stump line that made the WI threw their wkts away.

Cozier: ur thoughts abt the Kiwi chase. Looks a comfortable one though.

Smith: Yes but u cant say anything. These small totals are tough to chase.

NZ win the first test

NZ scored a 6wkt victory in their first test against WI at kingston.

AIded a by a magnificant 76 by cairns NZ reached the target with 4 wkts

in hand.

NZ reached the target as lots of tension and drama unfolded on the

ground as NZ lost wkts at regular intervals.

But cairns and fleming helped Kiwis with crucial partnership.

But WI were disappointed that the appeal for caught behind against

cairns was ruled out as the batsman really edged the ball from edwards

and there was really confusion in the ground.

NZ started of the innings poorly with sinclair edging one to lara to

collymore and collymore soon accounted for the out of form Richardson.

Collymore had strained his harmstring andwill be missing the next

match.

Edwards then had Astle the important wicket. then Mcmillan too was out

bowled by edwards in the very next over by the same bowler.

Cairns joined fleming and some great shots to dismantle the attack.

Fleming was bowled by a great yorker from lawson and couple overs later

Lawson removed styris with the help of brilliant catch by baugh.

But nothing was to stop the marauding cairns as he guided NZ home.

Presentation Ceremony

Ian Bishop: I welcome lara here to have his thoughts abt the match. Well bad luck brian . Urrrrr gus played poor cricket.

Lara: Well we didnt apply ouselves in the middle with the bat and that cost us dearly. Another 30 runs it would be a different story.

Bish: Well whats the news abt Collymore injury.

Lara: Well i dont know abt his fitness we dont to risk by playing him in the next test.

Bish: All the very best for next test at ur home town brian. Well i would like to have fleming here .

Fleming: Ya it wasnt the most satisfying performance since we made heaVY weather of the target somehow iam happy we are home, thanks to cairns for his great batting.

Bish: well the Man of the match is Chris Cairns. Good alround show with both bat and ball.

Cairns: Ya its really satisfying to be part of winning team hope to carry the form in the rest of the series.

Bish: thats it in the presentatation we will meet in the next test in Port of Spain. Bye.

Cozier: well the match as ended we will meet in Port of Spain for the Second test and there will be changes i think in both the teams. Bye for now.
