We're not talking about fake names in cricket games, we're talking about common mis-spellings. Such as Murli when it should be Murali...

Believe it or not, i've encountered a few people who say Trescotick, mistakingly believing that the name lacks an H.

I've heard many people say Glenn McGrath and actually saying the "th" at the end!
Nothing to do with spelling, but many people do say the "th" at the end due to regional accent variations. I always say the "th", same as I do for bath.

There's a few Indian ones:

Virender Sehwag, not Shewag

Ha, I can't think of anything else. Good job, guys.

Of course there are bound to be more but that's all I can think of for now.

Sajid Mahmood not Mamood, Mahood or Mahmoood (however much Bob Willis says it :p)

Thanks for pointing this out. Now I'll know exactly how to miss-spell these names.

Top thread. Should be stickied :p

To be fair, I have heard many Indian commentators pronouncing it Shewag, so that's probably where people come up with that.

Muttiah Muralitharan
Sanath Jayasuriya
Mahela Jayawardene
