[2025] PlanetCricket's All Time XIs - England ongoing

Seeing SG's decades xi thread, I thought why not do something similar. But rather than doing a draft, I wanted to build the best XI's for each Test nation as voted by our PlanetCricket members.

So, first up let's start with England.

How this is gonna work is very simple. I will tell you positions like fast bowler or opener or middle-order batter and you will nominate players for these positions according to you. Whoever gets the most vote wins.

Are votes calculated from nominations or will we have a final vote poll consisting of all nominations? If it's the latter then I'll go-

whichever players reach 10 votes first gets selected for that position (if that happens under 4 days). unless there is a stiff competition, in which case might just let it go till the end.
4 days should be enough time to get most votes in my opinion.

when this batch gets done, most likely captain candidates would be Cook or Root. Not the best options for England, probably Len Hutton as second opener or number three sounds good to me. Or maybe Stokes.

First, I am building a base after which people can elect players according to their combinations like 4 bowlers 1ar or maybe 3 bowlers, 1 bowling ar 1 batting ar something like that.

For England, one spinner and 4 serious pace options seems the way to go. For subcontinental teams, you might even see 3 spinners in a single team.

Teams like South Africa can have an extra batter if we take Goddard as an opener. But when Kallis already exists, maybe this is not neeeded. Plenty to choose from and things to consider.
