I've had this game for a while now, and i'm currently on the Feb-Mar 2007 tour of Bangladesh with England. My team is 1st in the Test rankings, but a poor 7th in the ODI rankings, this is mainly due to poor batting.....

i start my openers on 3 bars aggression, and even on a perfect track they struggle to maintain 3 runs per over in the early stages, but i persist knowing that having wickets in hand will allow me to post a somewhat competitive total. but the main thing that annoys me is, as soon as i increase the batting aggression by a single bar, the batsman throws his wicket away and i end up getting bowled out cheaply. this also happens when chasing totals, and its confusing how im top of the Test rankings but near the bottom of th ODI's

any help would be appreciated

There are certain players like sehwag, peterson, trescothick where u can start with aggresive level 1 or 2....they will playin well provided they are in form!!!!

If u playin a not in form batsmen.then u hve to start off slowly and then gradually increase!!!!

Any abrubt increase all of a sudden might cause u a wicket!!!!

So play as per the form!!!
eg: Once I playd gilchrist and hayden for my somerset team and strtd with agressive 2 level in a test and gradually increased the level and i ended with 1500 plus runs for no loss!!!!

Contrary to the previous poster, I always find that this game isn't conducive towards increasing the pace of the innings in the dying overs. Instead, I've always found it expedient to score at a more even pace throughout. On a good track, I like to start withmy openers on about four bars, only increasing this value when they get properly settled.

In addition to this, I always find that chasing a total is an awful lot easier than setting a target; so on my part, win the toss and bowl seems to be the order of the day.

I understand the frustrating that you go through. I've been at 2/100 at about 20 overs a couple of times and end up making 250 all out.
You just need them to settle in and work your way up. And depending on the amount of wickets left i go full aggression. Like if there are 35 overs left and only 2 wicks dropped I would go max from there and would make around 150.
