Abhas announced as Athletic? Dirdam Vice Captain

Athletic? Dirdam captain treva today told the media that Abhas will take the vice captain role for the 2008/09 season. The announcement comes after the recent signing of Fernando Torres at Athletic?. Teague told reporters that he is a fine player and will gain instant respect from the team.

"Abhas is a perfect candidate. Hard working, intellectual and knows the team well. He is a popular member of the side, I can see that from pre-season training. He will do a great job not only off the pitch but on it. I have no doubts about his ability and I look forward to working with him alongside me."

Abhas will be head of operations at Athletic? Dirdam for the next two weeks with treva away on holiday. Abhas is yet to comment but is expected to hold a press conference later this afternoon.

Press Conference To Thank the Team Captain.

Abhas Gupta, Vice Captain, Athletic? Dirdam Thanks captain Treva for providing him the opportunity to be the Vice-Captain of the Best team in the Tournament. Playing with people like Fernando Torres, and other Great international stars is a once in a lifetime achievement, and being the vice captain now, the responsibility of managing the team is overwhelming.

An Exuberant Abhas said, "I am really pleased with the Captain's decision. It was a bit unexpected, but surely a welcome move. I will try my best to have good team chemistry, and look forward to gaining excellent experience from the internationals."

On asked on his plans when Treva will be on holiday, he said " It is a big responsibility, and i have already started to make some plans to successfully manage the club in the captain's absence. I hope the players will fully cooperate with me in the small period of 2 weeks."

He was all praise for treva, and humbly stated that it was Treva's greatness that he called him a perfect candidate for the job. He added, "Treva is a wonderful captain, and being his deputy, I will make sure I closely follow him."

He planned a team get-together to understand the team players better, and know about their strengths and weaknesses in detail.

The question remains as to whether or not Abhas Gupta ate Dr. Pepper's hot dog. "If he did eat it, would we really want a hot dog stealer as our vice-captain. It is a big gamble but if he puts his initiative into the way he plays on the field the gamble will pay off." Athletic? Dirdam are currently favourites to win the league despite all the scandals around their team. With a brutal strike force and a hard headed defence, there is no way the Dirdam can lose the season.
