After a rain delay washed out the opening session, Melbourne's bowlers got rolling and reduced NT to 9/169. Jackson Bird and Cameron Green had three wickets each. But then they became frustrated as, as Scott Boland held one end firm, Brendan Doggett unleashed and hit nine fours on his way to a career-best 48. This gave NT a 71-run last wicket partnership and a much better chance of winning the game.

For Scott Boland and Brendan Doggett to be the best partnership in this particular innings wasn't as big of a surprise as last time. However, their dominance was still surprising - eight wickets shared between them helped reduce Melbourne to just 224 and give NT a first innings lead that looked unlikely at 9/169. Four Melbourne batsmen finished between 30 and 39, but arguably the best was Jon Holland who hit six fours in 32 balls.
The second innings from NT was significantly more competent, setting Melbourne a target just above 300. Jake Weatherald was the pick of the batsmen, grinding out 75, while fifties for all-rounders Tom Andrews and Hayden Kerr proved more efficient and resulted in a century partnership. That the total wasn't higher, though, was likely due to two bowlers- Mitch Perry, who bowled the least overs in the innings, and Peter Siddle, who bowled the most, both took three wickets.

Melbourne made the chase look easy, after being in trouble at 4/85. Maxwell's 62 made a platform that Cam Green took full advantage of, blasting his way to a ton and winning the game with Harry Nielsen at his side. That was despite the best efforts of Boland who took eight wickets to take his tournament total to 14.

Hobart's 323 owed much to its top four. They proved to be the four top scorers, headlined by Shaun Marsh with a free-flowing 75 and a fifty for Usman Khawaja. Their lower order was limited more, though, by a fiery spell from Jason Behrendorff, who cleaned up the tail after having earlier dismissed Marsh and Marcus Harris to pick up five in the innings.
Canberra would have mixed feelings about this innings. On one hand, only four players passed 12. On the other, one was Will Pucovski who scored his first ton of the tournament, and another was Tim Ward who nearly joined him as two young guns fired. Hobart was a bit of an opposite, with almost-40-year-old Michael Hogan producing the best performance out of four solid efforts from the bowlers.
Hobart's second innings was the best innings so far of the entire tournament! They finished on 3/338, setting Canberra 361 to win. Shaun Marsh brought up a lovely ton and played as if he was going to get 200 had time not been an issue, while Usman Khawaja only just fell short of joining him. On the bowling side, Cooper Connolly's first wicket of the tournament and Harry Conway taking two were the only bright spots as a clearly tired Behrendorff and Dwarshuis were slaughtered.
While they showed fight, a lack of staying power from the Canberra top order, a tail collapse, and a magical spell from Michael Hogan helped Hobart put points on the board for the first time. Hogan dismissed Matt Renshaw, Tim Ward, James Peirson and Jack Edwards in an innings of 5/29 from 18 overs. Without it a draw was certain as Canberra pushed the result to within 40 minutes.

Sydney's bats disappointed in falling to 202 all out. Sam Heazlett made a polished fifty but nobody else stood up. James Pattinson had the headline figures of 5/73, but Chris Tremain was arguably even better, as he took 4/25 from 22 overs at a ridiculous economy of 1.1.
After losing star David Warner for a third ball duck, Adelaide recovered to get a commanding first innings lead. Much of that recovery was off the bats of Steve Smith and Henry Hunt who both got seventies, while Cam Bancroft fell just short of his first fifty of the season. Jhye Richardson was the only positive for a struggling Sydney team - his five wickets included Warner and Hunt.
Sydney had a decent platform to at least post a competitive target at 2/103 thanks to the efforts of Bryce Street and Sam Heazlett. What followed was a collapse of 6/33 and a innings victory for Adelaide. Chris Tremain ended up with the best figures, and he removed both Heazlett and Josh Philippe to open the floodgates, but Tom Rogers getting rid of Cooper, Street and Doran (including two of Sydney's best bats) also deserves some mention.
