Gillespie still there so that suggests he still in the frame. Katich career is pretty much over. No surprise with the two young spinners that have been picked.

I like the see Haddin there, thats good but he is ageing though and might be better in domestic cricket... MacGill should be able to get his chance the next test series we have :) I hope Jaques gets a crack too.

he debuted in the CB series mate, quite a good bowler for Tassie.

I definitely think Cullen Bailey or Dan Cullen should be given a go in the Australian side seeing they are the future of Australias spin bowlers.

I seem to like the Leggies more than the offies so I wouldn't mind seeing Bailey given a go.

He can push them in at around high 130's i think.

Been hitting the 140s lately so very good swing bowler in the making.

Hilfenhaus was the standout bowler in First Class cricket this year, leading wicket taker by a fair margin.

Disappointed to see Dan Cullen there, it just shows that the selectors base it on hype rather than results. Cullen couldn't even get a game for South Australia in the Pura Cup and he still manages a national contract?

Would also prefer Andrew McDonald to James Hopes, younger and a better prospect in my eyes.

Well I think I will pick an XI I would like to see in our first games this year:
Test:
Chris Rogers
Matthew Hayden
Ricky Ponting (c)
Brad Hodge
Michael Hussey
Michael Clarke
Adam Gilchrist (k)
Brett Lee
Stuart Clark
Shaun Tait
Stuart MacGill
12th Man: Mitchell Johnson/Nathan Bracken/Ben Hilfenhaus

ODI:
Adam Gilchrist (k)
Matthew Hayden
Ricky Ponting (c)
Michael Clarke
Andrew Symonds
Michael Hussey
Cameron White
Brad Hogg
Brett Lee
Ben Hilfenhaus
Nathan Bracken
12th Man: Brad Hodge/Stuart Clark/Mitchell Johnson

I like the ODI team but i dont like the test team
I think Jaques should be there instead of Rogers, and Clarke shouldn't be that far down in the order. He succeded with 2 centurys in the Ashes at number 4.

He never batted at 4 in the Ashes, he batted at 5 and 6, and I rate him below all the men battin ahead of him. As for Rogers v Jaques, Jaques' season was poor, and Rogers' awesome. A double century and the leading run scorer by a country mile, once again, we must reward form over hyped talent.

My teams would be:

Test:

Matthew Hayden
Ricky Ponting (c)
Mike Hussey
Michael Clarke
Andrew Symonds
Adam Gilchrist (wk)
Brett Lee (OBW1)
Stuart Clark
Stuart MacGill
Shaun Tait (OBW2)
12th Man: Nathan Bracken/Shane Watson

ODI:
Adam Gilchrist (wk)
Matthew Hayden
Ricky Ponting (c)
Michael Clarke
Andrew Symonds
Mike Hussey
Shane Watson
Brad Hogg
Brett Lee
Nathan Bracken
Shaun Tait
12th Man: Stuart Clark/Mitchell Johnson

Brett Lee and Shaun Tait should be the spearheads for the Australians pace bowling attack while Shane Watson seems better at OD than Tests.

I would definitely have Clark and Lee opening the bowling, Clark is the best Test paceman in our team by far with McGrath gone, and Tait needs more experience in Test cricket before he can open the bowling. Aside from that, I wouldn't open Lee and Clark together, too erratic. We need the economy and wicket taking option that we had with McGrath, and Clark has proved he is the man for it.
