Australian cricketers "banned" in Mumbai and Nagpur

You just copy/pasted what that Aussie Police Commissioner had to say, didn't you? Well mate, the records say quite a different thing. But that's a different story, requires a different thread, and shouldn't be discussed here.

Murders (most recent) by country

I don't know how recent/accurate that is. But India's 37,000 murders to Australia's 302 there really says something.

I did see those same stats on A Current Affair too btw.

Lol Shiv Sena can't ban anything. Does these guys have any sort of idea how popular Brett Lee etc is in Mumbai?

Just ignore these guys. They = like the Sarah Palin's of India.

They did it just one. Exaggeration much in the media?
No, it has happened at least 4 times in the last 20 years. One at Mumbai, Delhi and Mohali (not severe enough to stop the match) and one pitch that was to be used for a veteran's match.

Umm... I had to respond to this even though the thread is closed. If anyone has an issue with it, please PM me. :)

The murder statistics you pointed to is conveniently an aggregate figure, instead of a per capita figure. Similarly, India is the 13th richest country, ahead of countries like Australia, Switzerland and UAE. So everyone in India must be rolling in cash, right? Wrong. Obviously you have to account for the fact that there are more people in India hence there is going to logically be more crime.

The correct figures to use would be the murder per capita statistic, where India is still high at #26, but below countries such as the United States (#24), Russia (#5) and South Africa (#2). Australia is down at #43 in that statistic which is pretty good, but not as good as New Zealand (#52) and several European countries.
