Australia keeps run rate going

husseynd1.jpg

Australia have kept the run rate at a steady pace in their One Day against the Scotland team. Thanks to Michael Hussey, the Aussies have set up and good positon, and are troubling the Scot's early in the piece. Hussey shown above hits another boundary to trouble the Scotsmen.

Michael Hussey and Matthew Hayden seemed to have the Bowlers at bay, and have figured out the bowlers early, and are now just playing their time, and easily smashing the balls around. Matthew Hayden was the better of the two, Hussey had the better start, but Hayden got his gear toegther near the end of the 10th over, and opening, is what he loves, and started to show it.
Being an opener, Hayden didn't have the best start, but like the good opener he is, started to play some normal Hayden shots, and got his confidence up and running again.

Hussey goes for 24

After a good start to the match, Scotland has finally found it's wicket they needed to break the Hayden and Hussey partnership. The Partnership was creeping up to the 50 run mark, so Scotland needed to do something, and quickly.
With relief they found that something, with Hoffman bowling a ball, that Hussey completely miss timed, and knock the stumps over. Hussey was clean bowled and not happy about it. Hussey just didn't know what to expect with that ball, and totally miss judged the flight of the ball, and it ended up going straight behind him, and hearing the bails being knocked over, is something Hussey didn't want to hear.

With Hussey gone, and only making 26, Ricky Ponting now comes to the crease, and with Matthew Hayden at his side, the Scot's will have to start over again with their attack. Arguably Australia's 2 best batsman are in the crease at the moment, so Scotland, might have a few tough overs in front of them, will need to find a wicket quickly, to try and stop this Australia attack.

I guess, Ponting can compensate Hayden's slow start. This partnership is going to be crucial. Unless, Aussies do something silly in bowling later, they are going to be safe. :p

Scotland grab another wicket (Channel 9 news)

Sport's news, Australia in trouble

Scotland have picked up another wicket, and this time it was Matthew Hayden that was sent back to the pavillion. Hayden not showing the best form he has produced so far of his career. And today's World Cup match, proved that he hasn't been in good form, only making 26 before being dismissed.

Australian cricketer Mathew Hayden walks back after getting bowled out

Australia ae looking in deep trouble at the moment. With their 2 openers, Hussey and Hayden already been dismissed from 14 overs, and only making 58 runs between them, something needs to happen for Australia and it needs to happen quickly.
Lucky enough they have Ricky Ponting and young gun Michael Clarke at the crease now. Can they get Australia back on track, or are they going to fold under pressure and join their mates, Hussey and Hayden back in the change rooms. Ricky Ponting was just new to the crease, replacing Hussey and is on 2 runs at the current stage. Now with Michael Clarke new to the crease, the Scot's will be looking to grab another quick wicket, and test out the Australian's and see how good they really are.

Ponting and Clarke get Australia back on track

The dynamite duo of Ricky Ponting and Michael Clarke have once again gotten Australia back on track to posting a big score against the Scot's. Australia looking in deep trouble with both their openers (Hayden and Hussey) going out early then expected, something needed to happen for Australia. So this partnership came to the crease, and it has been a vital one for the Aussies.

Both men played some exceptional shots. Both looked in rare form, and was completely different to the way Hayden and Hussey played, who we're both stagnent in their approach. Ponting and Clarke didn't think about what they we're doing, they just did it, and things paid off for them. They didn't take long before they we're off the mark, and running. Both men hiting the boundaries and hitting the singles and 2's. Australia seemed to look steady for a while with these 2 new players at the crease. Maybe the tied has turned against Scotland.

Thing's started to go good for Australia. After a horrid start, they looked settle with their Captain, Ricky Ponting, and one of the new comers, Michael Clarke at the crease. Ricky Ponting was 1st to the crease out of the 2 men. And he started off pretty well. We are now into the 23rd over, Ponting has made 26 from 36 balls, and hit 3 boundaries along the way. That is good batting from the Veteran. Ponting is just over the 70% strike rate for this contest, which is above his standards. Ponting has only been out on the ground for just over half an hour, and has already marked his stamp on the game.

The 32 year old from Tasmania, loves to play the ball on the off side. That's his strength, but today he hasnt had much oppourtunity to play those type of shots. The Bowler's haven't given him much to play on the off side. But the great player Ponting is, he has managed to still keep the scores rolling, while playing balls on the on side and front and back foot shots.

Michael Clarke is the other player at the crease with Ponting at the moment. Michael Clarke has been really deadly so far, since coming onto the ground, making 21 from 23 balls, and also hitting 3 boundaries along the way. He has only been on the ground for 34 minutes, and like Ponting, has started off well and is marking his territory on the match now.
The young 25 year old from New South Wales, is looking to become a major in this team, and possibly this World Cup will show what the young man can possibly provide for Australia in the coming years.

Atlast, there are someone to raise the scoring rate. With Ponting/Clarke going nicely, the RR is still expected to go over 6RPO. ;) Keep up the good works.
