Best Ever ODI Bowler

No, Venkatesh Prasad, Salil Ankola, Kuruvilla, Mohanti, Harvinder Singh, Doda Ganesh etc beats them all! :D Shame that Indian team doesn't have one benchmark bowler!

oh wait.. it's the wrong thread to moan about worst bowling side in the world. :sarcasm

Well, I am actually surprised to see Donald, Lee etc ahead of Pollock, McGrath in their list of favorites though latter type of bowlers are known for their consistency while the former for their aggression!

If you look at there Strike-Rates (Donald, Lee) they are far better then Pollock's.

forget statistics, who would terrify you more if you had to face them. Pollock or Donald? I would pay money to not have to face Donald. He was one mean SOB.

Wasim Akram, McGrath, Saqlain, S Pollock..There are many, but i guess these are very much on the top

Wasim Akam is my all time favorite. His pace and ability to swing it (both ordothox and reverse) make him greatest bowler to have graced an ODI field. Saqlain was great before he forgot how to ball offspin and bowled doosra after doosra. Waqar, Mcgrath and Pollock are all up there. One of key criteria for being a great ODI bowler is ability of death bowling and no one has and ever will surpass the great two W's.

Cant really pick one Allan Donald,Sir Richard Hadlee,Malcolm Marshall,Curtly Ambrose and Ian Bishop.

I would love to add Lillee to that list but unfortunately he did not play too many ODIs...

Playing for New Zealand would not have helped him in that regard. But I'm pretty sure most people have named him.

Hold onto your horses pal. The problems most people always like watching Fast bowlers. There is nothing more enthralling than watching a waqar or donald come in and crush the batsman's toes with an inswinging 95MPH yorker. There is no better sight than that. Fast bowling is a lot more exciting and dynamic. Thats the reason people are naming Wasim, Waqar and Donald. Murali is a class act and he is the best ODI Spinner I have ever seen bowl.

well ofcoz i love faster bowlers my self and love seening them in action but we are talking about THE BEST BOWLER IN ODI. so dont you think we should go with records more in talking about who is the best. anyway 100% with you on what u say on who like who. personally there is nothing like seeing gr8 wasim bowling those unplayble 90+ yorkers but is he affactive then murali???

Murali is also a no brainer for most people, so why name him.

I never liked Murali and he certainly is not the best spinner of all time.I agree he has taken plenty of wickets but his bowling action does not look legitimate to my eyes and many would agree with me on that. Also he was lucky because he had the luxury of taking most of his wickets in Spinner friendly tracks.

I would rate Saqlain Mushtaq and Harbhajan Singh as better off spinners than Merily.

And Harbhajan and Saqlain haven't?

Their actions look convincing to me....It is just my choice that I would pick those two ahead Murali on any given day.

That's fair enough, I can't argue with your opinion. But Murali's action has been cleared, I don't know why people still like to bring it up all the time.
