IMO Kaif should be the captain right now. If Smith at such a young age can become the captain, why cant Kaif?

That is a valid point Usman. Smith has done a god job as captain of SA and Somerset. I think Kaif should be considered as an able candidate too.

May be Kaif can be made as the current ODI captain and Sehwag as the current test team captain! Would be a very good move! Sehwag can continue his usual free flowing strokeplay in ODI's and can manage the team in the tests! Kaif at some point of time, should enter the test team (instead of Yuvraj or Ganguly!) and should become an integral part of both!

Well anyone could be better than Ganguly at the moment. Sehwag's approach to the game could change with the captain's responsibilty. Add to that the Indian fans' expectations and we will see a drastically subdued Sehwag. Kaif is a different case, he is a brilliant motivator and he seems to me as a cool headed person.

I dont think Sehwag would curb his natural game too much to be a responsible captain! He has other players like Dravid and kaif who are more responsible. So Sehwag can afford to play his natural game! That was not the case with Sachin who had to curb his natural game so that he stays put in the middle. Dravid then was a relative newcomer and so was Ganguly! There was no batsmen who can be always relied upon to stay put!

Ganguly's the better captain of the lot, but Dravid brings the team together and they perform as a unit, not to forget he makes smart moved in bowling and fielding changes. Sehwags lost all of his games ( correct me if I'm wrong) as captain, so his not the option. When you are captain you also need some luck with you.

Dravid has never made smart bowling and fielding changes. Infact that is one of the reasons why I dont rate him much as a captain.

In the Indianoil cup Dravid looked superb as captain, dont forget all them games agiasnt the lankans was close.

Obviously Dravid was trying to change things, to bring in a mixture of Off-spinner, left hand spinner, a leggie and medium pacers, he was just tryng new and different things to change the cuase of the match.

Like I said he was just trying to change things and try different stuff the change the cuase of the match, evan I thought it was stupid, but I could understand why he was doing it.

Sehwag captained India in only one match against Bangladesh and India won that match convincingly!

No doubt Ganguly is the best ever Indian captain! But not now! We need a new captain. Not even Dravid! Some one different! Sehwag can be tried in tests and Kaif in ODI's

I agree with Kaif in ODIs, but Sehwag in tests could be a bit risky. Has Dravid ever captained India in tests?
