Chavs, Happy Slappers, Lowlifes and Violence

We definitely have people who hang around in big groups but usually they are 'popular people(such as myself!:D),or i suppose aussies who try to be...ahhh...'ethnic'(i know,i can't think of anything else),they speak and dress like them.Very sad, very sad indeed.

Wait, you guys are judging people by the way they dress?? I though you would just associate this with violent teens, not groups of people who dress similarly. That is prejudice.

Exanctly(And u did mean to spell it wrong)!Everybody judges, and i think we are just giving our opinions on what other people may stand for,or how they act...It's a fair thing to do.They can judge me,i can judge them.I mean it's nothing to serious...

I don't have a problem with chavs wearing their specific clothes, its just that some, infact most are complete nutters. They're almost like young criminals, in fact most are. They lack a conscience. If you get attacked or something or have stuff nicked by chavs, then you're not going to like them.

The hanging around in large groups wearing clothing usually donned by people you know are violent (and smoking) would make you intimidated, right?

Sorry, Zorax, but it isn't prejudice. People who wear the clothing often do it because they want to be associated with chavs. I mean clothing that couldn't be distinguished as any other culture. I wouldn't look at someone wearing sports clothes and think "Chav, better avoid". I would if they were mean looking and have a fag sticking out their mouth.

So people wearing chav clothes are pretty likely to have common characteristics of chavs. Therefore, by previous intimidating and harrassing experiences of chavs, you would want to avoid them.

Now this post is long enough, but thats just a reply. I want to mention another experience of today, which upset me greatly, and for a little bit made me mentally devastated.
My phone was stolen.
This phone, which had cost ?70 (out of which I actually paid ?20) I had only only have bought for me a couple of weeks ago. My mum intended it for use in Australia. We haven't even got there.
I was so angry with the animals that had stolen it. I would have no hesitation in pulling the trigger of a gun pointed at their head. It would rid the world of another piece of scum.

Anyway, after telling teachers and everyone, I have got home and reported it, consequently blocking the phone, which makes me a little bit happier. I still have to get a new handset, but at least I will keep my number (which would be a little tricky to replace).

Lol, what a long post. Who will actually be kind enough (and bored  ) to read this?

Embi.

I live in the States. What's a Chav? I've heard of the word quite a few times before, but I honestly don't know.

Where did you go to school? Chavs tend to be associated more with Britain rather than anyway else. It isn't really a new term to describe bullies or young hooligans, its a whole culture.

This wikipedia article should explain it

Its a bit long, so just skim and scan through (particularly look at the stereotype bit)

There you go ;)

Oh thanks, I re-read the thread, and I realized that my question had already been answered. What kind of music do 'chavs' listen to? I find I can figure out people a lot by what they listen to.

Also, does anyone know of/seen Ali G or "Da Ali G Show"? Is he then a spoof on these 'chavs?

Chavs listen to R 'n' B, and not the classic stuff from years ago. This stuff is quality crap, and I shudder to even call it music. the only rational explanation I can think of of why some R 'n' B total shite is listened to by chavs is that they want to look even harder. Usually, to increase this image, they get the song on their phone and play it loudly, often irratating people with even worse quality crap (the terrible song + tinny quality of speaker).
Ok, that was a rant on R 'n' B. I'm sorry if you listen to it (and even more sorry if you enjoy it), but thats my opinion.
Ali G is sort of, I'm not really sure. One of the best known chav spoofs was Vicky Pollard, of Little Britain fame. Another shorter wikipedia article on her:

Ahh,yes. She is hilarious.Me and my mates see that as being very english...Obviously we have no idea!R'n'B ain't gonna make you look hard!R'n'B is wishy washy crap!

He kina is, but Catherine tate is more of spoof on chavs. As for the music, they mostly listen to rave music; Which in my opinion, i sjust an old song from previous years, sped up so that the lyrics can't actually be heard.
