CM10: Life after Mario Gomez

I am going to postpone this till September 12th, a day after the release of the full game so that I can have the updated transfers. The demo looks very good, but since it is almost completely different from CM08, I am going to use this time to get used to everything.

Following a medical examination, the 20 year old full back, who made 27 Bundesliga appearances last season, will sign a contract with VfB until June 30th 2012. The fee involved in the transfer remains undisclosed.

"Versatile in the wide positions"

Sport director Horst Heldt: "Stefano Celozzi is versatile in the wide positions and is one of the greatest talents in German football in his age group. He displayed the great potential he possesses last season and we are convinced that he can take the next step in his development with us."

VfB Stuttgart have also signed Matthias Schwarz from FC Ingolstadt. The 21 year old midfield player went through a youth apprenticeship at FC Bayern Munich and made 26 appearances for Ingolstadt in the second division last season. Following the successful completion of a medical examination, Schwarz is expected to sign a deal with VfB until June 30th 2011.

"What it takes for the Bundesliga"

Sport director Horst Heldt: "Matthias Schwarz is a midfield all-rounder who has all the requirement necessary to make his breakthrough in the Bundesliga."

Two good signing for Stuttgart there, I feel you need a goal scorer after the exit of Mario Gomez.

VfB last night called off their transfer negotiations with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. The Dutch national team player was unable to give Stuttgart a decision about a transfer to the club by the agreed-upon deadline because he could not come to terms on a contract termination with his current club Real Madrid.

Horst Heldt, Sport director: "We wanted to acquire Klaas-Jan Huntelaar because his playing style fits very well with our team. But we are not about to keep ourselves hanging on and waiting."

VfB have been looking to acquire a renowed striker following the exit of Mario Gomez to Bayern Munich.

The 1.88m forward underwent a medical examination this morning, performed by club doctors Dr. Raymond Best and Dr. Heiko Striegel, paving the way for the former Tom Tomsk star to put pen to paper on a deal which will tie him to the club until 2012.

Back to Russia
Once the deal was complete, Pogrebnyak flew back to Russia to sort out the formalities with Zenit and is expected in Stuttgart on Tuesday to link up with his new teammates for training.

Great signing in Pogrebnyak, he is a great gem of player in FM 2009 and hope fully will be in CM. He atleast scores around 20 goals each season with any side and hopefully he does the same for you.

Aliaksandr Hleb is to make an immediate loan move from FC Barcelona to VfB Stuttgart. The contractual details of the deal with Alex Hleb and FC Barcelona were finalised on Thursday morning.

The Belarus international previously wore the red and white of VfB Stuttgart between July 2000 and the summer of 2005, during which time he made a total of 137 Bundesliga appearances for the club. The 28 year old is the captain of the Belarus national team and has been voted Belarus's ?Player of the Year' on six occasions. In the future, Hleb will wear the number 23 jersey for VfB.

Horst Heldt, executive board 'Sport': "In signing Aliaksandr Hleb, we have secured the services of a world class player, who will improve the quality of our team further still."

Aliaksandr Hleb: "I made the decision to move to VfB because the team possesses a great deal of potential and I am convinced that together we can achieve a lot."

Nice news for all Stuttgart fans, Hleb is back. He impressed every one over there before moving to Arsenal and hoping he does the same now. Good update mate, KIU :)

Before moving to Florence, Zdravko Kuzmanovic was under contract at FC Basel. He has now signed with VfB till 30.06.2013 and will wear the number 32 jersey.

Having signed on in Stuttgart, the new man headed straight off to join the Serbian national team for their up-coming World Cup qualifier against France in Belgrade on Wednesday, September 9th. The new man is expected to participate in his first training session with his new colleagues on Thursday, September 10th.

Kuzmanovic will get to face his former side when Stuttgart travel to Florence on the 23rd of this month, although the match depends on the fixture schedule of the DFB Liga Pokal competition, where Stuttgart have been drawn against Hertha Berlin in the first round.

Comments on the transfer:

VfB Executive Representative for Sport Horst Heldt: "With Zdravko Kuzmanovic we have signed a man who fits perfectly into our profile both with his qualities as a player and his age. He has proven at Fiorentina and in the Serbian national team that he has exceptional abilities. We have had an eye on him for quite some time now and we're delighted to have signed him."

VfB team coach Markus Babbel: "Zvravko Kuzmanovic is a modern midfielder. He has an exceptional reading of the game and is a strong tackler. Despite his young years, he has an impressive amount of international experience and that will surely help him integrate quickly into our team."

Zvravko Kuzmanovic: "I'm delighted that the move to VfB Stuttgart worked out so shortly before the end of the transfer period. VfB is a club with a long tradition, fantastic surroundings and a success-hungry team. I want to play my part in helping achieve their goals."

Tarvajarvi strike stuns Stuttgart

1286521.jpg

VfB Stuttgart got their pre-season off to a poor start by losing 0-1 to local rivals Karlsruhe. Finland striker Niklas Tarvajarvi's over-head kick in the sixth minute turned out to be the game winner.

New signings Aleksandr Hleb, Pavel Pogrebnyak, Zdravko Kuzmanovic as well as ex-Karlsruhe man Stefano Celozzi all made their debuts at the Wildparkstadion but failed to save their side from defeat. The visitors did dominate the possession and had more shots on goal, but to no vail.

A disappointing start no doubt, but with it being the first game of preseason, coach Markus Babbel will not to be too concerned as he tries to settle the new signings in to his squad. VfB next play regional league south side Eintracht Bamberg on Friday.

Result: Karlsruhe (N Tarvajarvi 6) 1-0 VfB Stuttgart
