Cricket 2004 changes - Break through guys

Shame about tutsi's patch - back to hex editing then

Sounds great the changes you have made - I hate the square cut/glance to fine leg edge that always goes over WK/1st slip for 4 each time - be good to get that going in different directions

So to summarise:

You have done this for all keyframe 2 for most strokes yes? also increased the power range - have you decreased the heights for any mis timed 6 hit shots yet ?

Also have you decreased the edgeaverage in the 1_hard file ?

Cheers

I have done for most of the strokes but fot those which had pwer values of 6 digits. I think keeping the power range quite high is at times good, what you say? Keep the power shots a bit low say 28..... instead of 30..... Read below :

I saw couple of lofted backfoot shots hits over the covers in the first 15 overs and they were landing pretty much between covers and deep extra covers. Rest assured no more spineless shots into the hands of extra cover fielder. It looks good in the game, we have to agree the sound effects are just great when played in UK.

I have made quite a few changes in the l_hard file, will send you a copy shortly. We may need to up the defend value a bit more in the 1day50.cfg to balance the scores and probably make CPU batting a bit more hard.

No run outs as yet in another short game this time on dry pitch, the ball carries fairly fast to the fielders and somehow CPU is being tricked to know the ball's already with the fielder. Mind you there were couple of attempts by CPU to run itself out and both the times the fielders missed the stump with the direct hits. I would like to see this in every game, it adds to realiasm.

Sorry mate thats not too clear. you mean you only altered those with power values of 6 digits?

So you want to keep the power area high and the actual power value a bit lower? Well I obviously haven't had a chance to test any of this so yep, makes sense to go with what you have observed I think.

Nice to see the lofted shots clearing the ring- they look so crap in the default settings.

Yes I had noticed your 1day50 is different to mine - mine has higher defensive values, but probably too high coz at times its like playing a test match !!

Looking forward to receiving your 1_hard.cfg file - send it when convenient- thanks

p.s. you can stick topics in this forum yourself - at the bottom right of page should be mod options - select the "stick/unstick this thread" option.

Sorry I think I confused you a bit there. I have only altered the Power values which are not of 6 digits, to be presice of 7 digits. 6 digit ones I remember are for the edge/def files.

I will send the l_hard right away, am off to bed with loads of enthusiasm and satisfaction.

See ya and if anything feel free to write to me.

cheers mate- as soon as boxing day (family stuff) is out of the way.............mmmmm

I am feeling very positive again now thanks to you

Well, thank you too. On the boxing day am off to Basin to watch the game, we are playing Pakistan. They gave us all moments of tension today with their bowling, the lad Sami always does quite well in NZ.

See ya.

sounds like you guys are making a lot of progress in a week or so with no information to base your work on. It has to make you wonder what the hell the developers were doing.

well i've been working on my own CFG files for Cricket 2004. i did them even before this thread was started but still i've been blamed of stealing ur idea and patch. i dunno if i did a right thing by releasing the patch coz i thought i made a gud patch for all thoese looking for a realistic gameplay patch.

Nope Phil, Tutsi's patches dont work. I updated the min and max targetsize to 0 but the cursor continued to show differently. Maybe we can conclude after we hear from others.

i'll tell ya why it didn't worked.

thats b'coz the CFG files only work with the UNCODED exe files which i've posted as my first cricket 2004 patch exe which removes the cursor.

and u have to do the HEX EDITING to edit in CODED exe.

so its basically :

CFG FILES = UNCODED EXE.
HEX EDITING = CODED EXE.

now i;ve posted an update of the patch along with the uncoded exe. so not it will work.

i dunno why nobody is supporting me in making patches. atleast i hope to get it from u guys. as i respect u and have learned editing from u only.

what's the difference between a coded exe and an uncoded exe ?

Also I am certain people will support your patches. Don't forget its early days, people have only just bought the game (or not got it yet) and so are still playing with defaults for a while before they might wish to consider patches.

However I am sure you have done good work, so don't worry

Please answer my question about coded and uncoded exe and how you can tell the difference ?

Thanks

Hi tutsi,

Don;t loose you heart I am with you as every one else in this fourm, well I really appeciate the hard work you are doing to make this game more enjoyable. Guys we really have to appreciate the good work done by anyone to make this game enjoyable as it is good for most of those people who donot know anything about hex editing. so, hats off to Phil, Zim, Tutsi great job keep it up.

BABAI

thnx guys...u really made my day.

well these are the things which inspire us to do better.

thnx a lot guys.

i'm feeling onfident knowing u all are with me.

I would feel even better if you answered my question about difference between coded and uncoded exe

thanks

Phil, I think the best way to go around sorting the runouts is by altering the stroke files in particular straight drive and on drive. I am fairly free today and tomorrow, I will try and decode pretty much all the files today. Meanwhile you can enjoy your Christmas and a very happy new year in advance. Need to check the Patch maker as was posted by sorrydaijin as well. This really is the right time of the year try these out with availabitlity of loads of free time.

Hi ravi
Well I don't really have the run out problem since increasing the power of most of the shots as long as mid on/off are right up to the wicket (just like in real life I think?)

Don't know about you but I have altered most keyframe 1 and 3 values as well now to ensure greater variety and to stop loads of mis timed shots ballooning into the air

I find your 1_hard.cfg to be great and the bowling configs you suggested I use with some slight tweaks to the outfield speed.

I am also very happy with the 1day50.cfg I am using - seems to play a good mix of attack/defense all the way through the innings.
On a dusty pitch, SL got 230-8 which I was pleased with - bowled loads of yorkers at the end and didn't bowl a single batsman :)

Good luck with the patch maker also - need something on those lines as changing 90+ safs means we cannot exactly post the new figures on the forums and expect people to type them all in !!

Same here too Phil, I am having good times with Cricket 2004. No crap runouts and good CPU pacing the ODI inning. One other change I made was lowering CPU difficulty in l_hard.cfg to around 0.45...... thereby assuring CPU plays very well.

I will probably change the Keyframe 3 as well, let me know what kind of values are you using. I would be interested in knowing what tweaks to the outfield have you done.

One other thing I did was to increase the DirectionArea quite a bit to make bowling a lot more interesting. With higher value in DirectionArea not always the shots are played in the same area anymore. Now I am finding it hard to just keep an attacking field, I go for well spread fields post 15 overs. Will keep you posted on anything that may come up.
