Hey, I've also been thinking if I find enough players from countries who didn't have official national teams back then (eg Germany, India, Greece etc), I could do up a Mixed Team for 1900 and a few editions to follow.

Makes sense - they could play under the Olympic flag

Team count doubles for Paris 1900

The participation in cricket is set to double for the 1900 Olympic Games to be held in Paris. Argentina (

), Netherlands (
22px-Flag_of_the_Netherlands.svg.png
), New Zealand (
22px-Flag_of_New_Zealand.svg.png
) and even the hosts France (
latest
) have signed up for the sporting event taking the team count up to 8 for the second Olympic season. As a result, this is set to be the largest international cricketing tournament till date.

There has also been talk of a Mixed Team featuring players from nations not officially participating in the cricketing event to appear in the 1900 Games in a bid to promote the awareness of the sport in those countries. It is yet to be confirmed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) however.

Cricket at the 1896 edition was a success mainly due to the usual 2-day first class format being discarded in favor of 1-day single innings matches with teams having to close their innings upon reaching the 50-over mark. It made cricket a lot more watchable and even brought a whole new dimension to the game, with teams now having to score at a much quicker pace in order to compete.

A result is also guaranteed every game except for washouts, which is something that might appeal to the football-loving French.

Sign-ups are now officially open for Paris 1900.

After being a success in the 1896 Olympic Games with an all new 1-day single innings format, cricket was unanimously retained as a sporting event for the 1900 Olympic Games set to take place in the beautiful city of Paris.

Participation has doubled, with the team count going up from 4 to 8 as Argentina (

), the host nation France (

), Netherlands (

) and New Zealand (

) look to make their mark in a game they have never taken seriously until now.

Netherlands withdraw at last minute, replaced by Mixed Team

Netherlands have withdrawn themselves from the cricketing tournament to take place in the 1900 Olympic Games. Their decision comes after their co-hosting bids for the event fell through along with Belgium's and France was chosen as the sole host. They have been replaced with a Mixed Team featuring players from over 10 different countries that aren't participating in cricket for the 1900 Games .

Interestingly, two Dutch players - Carst Posthuma and Johan Schröder were selected in the Mixed Team squad after making themselves available for selection against their cricketing body's wishes. Ireland's cricketers have also gone separate ways from the Great Britain team as a reaction to their star players Tim O'Brien and Lucius Gwynn being 'unfairly' overlooked for the 1896 event.

Mixed Team squad

I've already made it loads simpler by using the same gold, silver, bronze, legend icons to categorize players on squad posts like Iridium does in the Ultimate Team league.
