D Y Patil International Stadium, Navi Mumbai

Wow, it looks like India's version of the MCG, except obviously not that big.....

Still, looks a very promising prospect.

India has got answer to MCG in form of Eden Gardens. If Bengal cricket board were to upgrade the Eden Garden at sacle of MCG then it would have double the capacity of MCG.

I have seen this stadium-you normally see it when you drive down to Pune.

Anyways, the rumor was that the DY Patill Int Stadium was to host the 2011 World Cup Final. It was changed to New Delhi at the last moment-anyone know why ?

There are talks of this stadium hosting some of Mumbai team matches in IPL. Is it complete to go for that?

It is all set to host an International game.
The venue hosted an All-India Invitational T20 event and the floodlit final on the 11th of March saw a 50,000 strong crowd !
Sehwag scored a 100 from 30 balls in the semis and again cracked 87 from 34 balls in the finals !
I was there as a volunteer in the stadium for the finals ! It looks quite similar to the GABBA (the ground is a lot smaller though).
Its an all-seater stadium, maybe the first of its kind in India and the second biggest after the Eden Gardens in terms of capacity.

The Mumbai Indians IPL team bosses were present at the finals and the word is that the Mumbai home matches will be shared between Brabourne and DY Patil !
The semis will go to the CCI or Wankhede though .

But stadium looks underprepared from what I saw in the match between ONGC and AI(N)

If you look closely at it,you wont get the feel of an international ground. You get the feel of an university ground, well it is one.
