Mahendra Singh Dhoni hopes India's "significant" victory in the CB Series will silence those who criticised the youth-oriented squad selection for the tournament. Asserting his role in the selection of the young one-day side - he is India's ODI captain - he said it was "sometimes very important to send the message across".

"I was pretty clear about the players I wanted in the side," Dhoni told Cricinfo in a revealing interview where he spoke about the selection controversy for the first time. "That's what I said to the selectors as well. You can see the kind of team I got."

personally, i feel hes getting a bit too arrogant these days...

After Win of CB series--Well I though Senior has won it for us as far as final is concerned....I never knew that Someone else did it for India..By the way Dhoni was talking about whom??May be him self..

These are the type of guys that India need. Normally captains would speak about the team as the whole when they feel about themselves from the inside. This guy speaks the truth. As long as the team is performing, I am happy. If the team doesnt perform, he has to take the blame. So let him live under the sun as long as the team performs.

Ganguly with that arrogance built a team that could beat anyone. I know he fell from that pedestal, but then he did build the team with that kind of arrogance. Had we evaluated Greg Chappell properly, we might have built up on Ganguly's team and would have become world beaters much earlier. Now we are basically repairing the mess created by Greg Chappell and are back to where Ganguly started off (as captain).

I don't think he's being arrogant. He's just trying to straight-talk with the media, which is never a good idea, I think. Because they will be all up in his grill when India next fails.

Our players need to become stronger mentally. All the talent in the world is useless at the highest level. Australia is full of mentally strong cricketers like Hayden, Ponting and of course Symonds.

I am agree at last Cricket is a Mental game but arrogances don't show Mental status or caliber...Its easy to be arrogant after Success but its hard to be kind and simple after Success..

Well I don't See India gonna face any problem as a team in Upcoming time..India will be favorites in ICC champion trophy after that in Asia cup,It'll be all easy for India..
Our Seniors will be there in all Upcoming test series so Seems to me it'll be not so bad..
Well I wish India will go to Champions trophy and Asia Cup without Sachin..So We can estimate real youth Strength..

You need a balance, dude. These are the people who brought you in the team and your just stabbing them in the back. Ganguly did NOTHING WRONG to get cut. He's not the best fielder, but does it matter if we have 10 other guys who are awesome? Yuvraj's fielding sucks and so did Munaf Patel's (who got in the team).
There's a spot open at the top of the order. Sachin - Sourav combo is the best one. Just put him in there!

We need solidity in an incredibly frail middle order. Dravid is your man.

Dhoni, you cannot win with ONLY youth. You need some experience, someone who knows the intricate details of the game. This is downright stupid.
I hope we get killed in our next ODI series so we can learn from our mistakes.
