Dravid named in 30 man probable squad but Irfan left out

Except when the team is under immense pressure.

We have always had players to soak up the pressure. But we (the cricketing world) have batsmen like Tendulkar only once in a lifetime. So I would let the 'pressure situation' go for a hike and always take Tendulkar anyday.

Dravid in 30??!
I'd start watching one day cricket again!!
India had enough ████ at the No.3 position!!

Yeah.. It seems Dravid will be selected for the tri-series in Sri Lanka also featuring New Zealand. So looks like the selectors are actually very serious about re-inducting Dravid into the ODI side, which is excellent news. I would be very happy to see Dravid back again. He can still do it for India in ODI's.

I thought the best measure of a person's ability (in almost anything) is how they perform under pressure.

Not necessarily. Its a mixture. In certain cases, pressure could transform a player into a dynamite and when there is no pressure, he could be lulled into complacency. And also pressure has various characteristics. The kind of pressure that a player from one team encounters can be completely different from that of another player from another team. So it is a very good measure but not the best measure. For Sachin, he has huge pressure everytime he goes out to bat from ball one (in recent times it has eased due to the emergence of other players). So Sachin has played under immense pressure from the time he was hailed as a superstar in Indian cricket. So even if he has not led India past the finishing line himself on too many occasions, I would still back him because sometime or the other, he will do it (and he started doing it in the CB series, the England test in Chennai, etc).
