First Test - Day 3

England started poorly today with Tuffey getting one to skid through and catch him plumb in front without scoring a run on the second day and leaving England reeling at 122-4. Flintoff came out and needed to produce some magic with Collingwood if England are to get back in this game. Flintoff has played a mature innings and scored 46(83) as steadly built a 78 run partnership with Collingwood(45). England are 200-4 and only 68 runs away from the follow on. WILL THEY DO IT? Stay tuned to find out.

Flintoff shows he is a battler

After lunch England added another 29 runs and both batsmen reached 50 before Flintoff tried to work a ball from Oram across the line and was clean bowled for 59. Read came in and immediately took the attack to the Black caps putting on 49 with Collingwood before holing out to Vincent for 37(54) off the bowling of James Franklin. Anderson came in without about half an hour to go and finished with 6 from 10 at the end of the session. Collingwood has played well throughout the day so far and finshed with 94 not out from a huge 223 balls in 4 hours. He played well and has really put England into a positive position only 140 runs behind with 4 wickets in hand.

93* and an incredibly determined knock

End of day 3 and England are on 393-8. Collingwood batted amazingly for 135 and the tail fought accordingly. Harmison battled for 11(57) and Monty Panesar was on 12(49) both unbeaten at the close. England have put this match close now and personally I can only expect a draw. I just hope I am wrong and tomorrow is a good day of cricket.

A big fight from the English tailenders

For me so far the biggest surprise is Bond only bowling 5 overs. Maybe an argument with the skipper but the main strike bowler looks healthy and has barely bowled. I wonder why?

Strauss - not out - 51(135)
Bell - B. Oram - 43(104)

Fourth Day - First Test

England came out today with the intent to attack, they added 15 runs in 4 overs with Harmison getting 15, Monty getting 18 and Hoggard finished on 2 not out. England were bowled all out for 408 and all the bowlers bar Bond took 2 or 3 wickets. With England now 59 rubs behind with an hour and a half left before lunch on the fourth day, Fulton and Fleming are walking to the crease and Harmy is marking his run up. New Zealand are going to want to set England a big score and try to topple them on an uneven fifth day pitch.

New Zealand finish England for 408

At lunch New Zealand are going well with a lead of 125 runs and are 66 for no loss. Fleming is on 29* and Fulton on 23*. England have bowled well but at the moment New Zealand are looking good although the run rate is incredibly poor. 66 from 23 is not the method of attack that was expected from the fans and viewers.

Fortune against England New Zealand are 66-0

New Zealand are still battling and are 165-1 with a 224 run lead. England has bowled and fielded with positive attitude and aggression but the slow scoring from Fulton 30(104), Fleming 88*(169) and Oram has pushed it along a bit with 40*(67). The only wicket came from an arm ball to Fulton bowled by Monty Panesar. The game could go any way but it depends how England are going to bat and what New Zealand are planning on doing for the rest of the game.

Big 50 for the skipper Fleming on 88*

At the end of the day New Zealand have declared on 293-2 and England are going to need 352 on the last day. This is an aggressive declaration and the game could now go either way. Fleming finished on 143*(253) and Oram was LBW off Harmison for 111(166). It was a dull game of cricket with under 300 runs and only two wickets, BUT that does mean that we have a huge day in store for tomorrow. Lets just hope it lives up to expectation.

Fulton ? LBW Panesar - 30(104)
Fleming ? not out ? 143(253)
Oram ? LBW Harmison ? 111(166)
Vincent ? not out ? 0(9)

293-2 From 88 Overs

Harmison ? 12-2-51-1
Hoggard ? 22-3-82-0
Panesar ? 32-6-92-1
Flintoff ? 16-1-34-0
Anderson ? 6-0-29-0

England Need 353 To Win

next day will be in deeper detail i.e better GFX

What a spectacular knock from Fleming though he feels dull! :hpraise Lets see what happens on the last day.. I predict a England collapse? :p Lets see

Nice to hear that you are managing both the stories well :thumbs Keep it up!

Great knock from Fleming and Oram. England have a tough task ahead of them. Great job mate. KUTGW :)

Great unexpected innings from NZ, I think this game will be a draw with England losing 8 wickets on the last day.
