England Domestic Cricket 2006

I dont believe it!!!!

I leave after seeing only 3 wickets all day (2 from the 1st innings) and Middlesex lose 4 wickets for 40 odd runs.

I too am confused (why did someone delte my news thread :D), why was a wicketkeeper bowling

Yes, but what people want to know, is how Essex score 180ish in 9.4 overs. AND why Paul Nixon was bowling in what seems to be a very alive (opposite of dead) match

I guess it was just an incredible onslaught from Dog, and the Chef followed suit. I suppose Nixon bowled because Leicestershire would have done anything to stop our lads. ;)

But, he opened the bowling, no offense to him, but that is strange.

Guess I better wait till the Cricinfo bulleten

It was explained elsewhere, but in case anyone didn't see it, it was merely an example of declaration bowling. The two teams agree on a total to set and get part timers to bowl pies so the score can be set with a fair amount of overs and runs left.

Did Nixon bowl in his pads like Pothas did for Hampshire?

Just got back from the final day of Kent v Middlesex (left early). With the news that Yasir Arafat has signed for Kent next season (Andrew Hall will return as the second overseas player). Players released are Dave Fulton, Nial O'Brien (You'll have to moan at another club now Andrew :p), Simon Cusden, Matt Dennington and David Stiff.

How did you find out who you were signing/releasing next year?

A guy I was sitting near to got a phone call from his mate, it was on teletext, they announced it at the game during tea (after I'd left).

Warne wasn't happy at Chilton's decision and bowled a series of bouncers as well as being no-balled for throwing from a standing start. Last season ended with Warne annoyed at the way Nottinghamshire won the title.
What a baby!!

What are you talking about? Shane Warne is brilliant at bouncers! ;) And Nic Pothas is our new opening bowler!

Good signing, Yasir is a very good bowler and deputised for Rana with pure class, definitely helped us to win the title. Good batsman too. I'd say he's slightly better than Hall, Hall is good but never been really good, particularly in FC cricket with Kent, has he?

Monty gets a 10 for \o/ Taking all 5 of Worcs 2nd innings. 10 for and a 30 in the first innings, it's a joke to think that Giles has even a chance of playing in Aus.

Wasn't expecting Notts to go down, they were shocking against us though, Mushy did bowl well but boy, they helped him reach 102 wickets.

Well done Monty, a neat all-round performance there. You can't help but admire him can you? And i'm also surprised at Notts' relegation; Champions last year, chumps this year.
