I don't get why this is "unofficial". Does it mean an "official" one will be created for the build-up thread and then a "super duper official" one for when the series starts?

I just wrote Unofficial as this is way too far :p

Once it's near it's going to be official :p and not Super Duper Official ;)

I'm going to close this on the basis it's still a long time away. I know you will come back and say that the Ashes thread was around for a long time before hand as well, but I didn't agree with that either so don't come back with the argument I am being biased. The Ashes also deserved that sort of discussion as it is the most iconic series in the history of cricket, not to mention the discussion is of a lot higher quality to.

I'm going to reopen this (sorry Ollie) on the grounds that it's up to the members what they want to discuss and if the thread is premature no-one will post in it and it will die anyway.

I really dont see the need for this thread. I mean yea this is gonna be a brilliant series, but I dont think anyone is so waiting up for it now or something. Ashes is a different story, and it makes sense considering the posts there.

I don't see the need for this thread being a "build up" thread but I see no harm in this being the proper India's Tour of England Thread.

Whats the use of 4 tests? Either have 5, or have 3. Chances of a tied series are a lot and thats not what we want. We want a winner! Personally I feel India-England should be a 3 match series (home/away), and India-Australia should be a 5-match series (both home and away).

Will the Big Three still be there for this series? I think so because after this, we go to Australia which is the biggest series for us because beating Australia in Australia is a bigger dream (we won our last test series in England under Dravid's captaincy). I am sure atleast Sachin Tendulkar will remain till that Aussie tour. With England being a real good test team these days, India will have their task cut out. But we love England and something about it brings out our best.

It's because of the way the ECB structure the summer tests, they say that there has to be 7 tests every summer. With two fairly high profile nations in Sri Lanka and India it's fairly hard to do a 2/5 split in the tests.

Thus India get the 4 match test series, and Sri Lanka get a 3 match test series.

I'm still happy that India is playing a 4 test match-series but I haven't seen them playing a 5 match series. And this is not gonna be edited for sure.

And the england pitches will favour results a lot so we can expect a tied series at the end too.

I just wish that the fab 3 will stay there, though there is no reason they'd retire.

and yeah, surely too early to be here.

Its so far away that we cannot even say what will India do as we do not know who will be in team then. England are not untouchable at home and they will only have one plan - bouncers.
