England New Start......Will Mourinho Guide England To Glory?

England Press Conference Mourinho Appointed As New England Coach On a Two-Year Contract

jose-mourinho-winker.jpg

It was a typical Jose Mourinho press conference today as The FA revealed their new man. Mourinho was as cool and sometimes as "arrogant" as always was during his time at Chelsea.

When asked by a reporter "Jose, What are your ambitions as England boss" he answered "The players in this team are champions. I am a champion. We will get to the World Cup final in South Africa in 2010, and there we will become World Champions."

Mourinho's first match will be a friendly against Switzerland at the New Wembley.

Will he triumph as an International Manager?

Good to see Robert Green in the squad! He should play in the friendlies, he needs experience for the big stage. Interesting to see Jonathan Woodgate in there too, it looks like he's only there because Micah Richards is injured though.

Good luck with this story.

Wembley was sold out as Jose Mourinho conducted his first match as England Manager. The game started off with England under pressure, inside the first twenty minutes or so with Switzerland's midfield dynamo Hakan Yakin terrorising the England defence. Switzerland were rewarded for their expert passing and play when a Hakan Yakin corner met the head of his fellow midfield partner, David Degan. GOAL! The Swiss were 1-0 up.

After going behind England showed intent to get back into the match and equalise, and for the rest of the first half were the better side, with Peter Crouch and Wayne Rooney looking to put England back on level terms. In first half stoppage time Wayne Rooney made a break in to the final third of the pitch and was brought down by Arsenal's Phillipe Senderos by a late lunge, the referee sent Senderos off and David Beckham hit the bar from the resulting freekick.

Half Time: England 0-1 Switzerland
