In 2005 England won the Ashes on home soil. It was their 1st Ashes triumph in 18 years. Their 2-1 series victory over Australia was the best moment in English cricket for a long while. In the winter of 2006/07 the Aussies regained the Ashes on home soil with a 5-0 whitewash. Since then England have found new heroes and lost some, Australia have lost a few big names. Join us on England's road to the 2009 Ashes series.

ENGLAND NAME 15 MAN WORLD CUP SQUAD
Today England chairman of selectors David Graveney has announced the 15 man squad for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup in the West Indies. A few big names were left out and some new faces are in the team.
Kevin Pietersen
Alistair Cook
Michael Vaughan (C)
Andrew Strauss
Ian Bell
Paul Collingwood
Phil Mustard
Tim Ambrose
Andrew Flintoff (VC)
Stuart Broad
Ryan Sidebottom
Chris Tremlett
Graeme Swann
James Anderson
Monty Panesar

Here is what SkySports pundit Sir Ian Botham had to say.
That is a rather unusual squad there for England. There are some new faces like Stuart Broad, Phil Mustard, Tim Ambrose and Chris Tremlett. I think they were picked because of their county form last season. I hope England can go all the way with this squad.

NEW ZEALAND IN STRONG POSITION
New Zealand are on top in the 1st group match of the ICC Cricket World Cup in Barbados. England made a slow start and lost were 12/2 down early on. From there they never recovered enough, the only resistance was a 5th wicket partnership of 85 from Andrew Flintoff and Paul Collingwood.

The 5 man New Zealand bowling attack were the key for New Zealand taking wickets at crucial times leaving England off their 50 overs 208/8.

Average score and only just defendable. I think they've lost it though as if Collingwood can hit 40, then anyone can score well on it. :p

Good luck with the bowling, Kieron.

Not the greatest totals to defend for England and really they should be beaten for that poor batting display.

Great update mate, keep it up!:)
It was poor batting but I think that was because of the great bowling by the Kiwi's a shaky start to a World Cup campaign
