England's tour of India - 2021

LOL The usual 5 wicket haul for Moeen Ali coming up against India. We make him look like Murlidharan.

My goodness Foakes.

One thing I don't understand and I hope my fellow posters have seen the PC.

Why has Rohit given a verbal PPT on how to bat on this track? I mean, I just don't get it. And does this management sleep? Should they not brief Rohit that he is not to reveal his plans before the test match is over? Does this even need a briefing?

This English side has come very well prepared and now instead of them having to make up their minds and get out while trying (some of them) the mindset for the batters should be very simplified. It just mystifies me how this happens in this day and age.
Yeah I saw the press conference he literally revealed every single plan, his preparation prior to the game and how they planned to tackle in game match situation.

He told in PC that Mooen Ali is bowling in the rough so we decided to sweep him lbw is out of question and even if we top edge its a safe shot.

LMAO just I was typing this Ishant Sharma out top edging Ali in an attempt to play the sweep shot.

umpire asked for replay
But why? And more interestingly, did the umpire go upstairs because Kohli asked for it ir was it because he felt it appropriate to do so because Kohli was shocked by that dismissal? Either way, that was uncalled for.

Coming to the Test, nothing new. The tail succumbed within minutes. Nothing new at all. Our tail has to be the worst performing in recent years.

This is a proper win the toss win the match type of wicket.

Batting 2nd or chasing the runs in this kind of wicket is extremely extremely difficult.

Its India who is in the driver seat right now so probably no one is gonna talk about it.

Jonathan Agnew is raging.

"You have got to be honest and say if this match was staged anywhere else in the world the ICC would be crawling all over it and Chennai would be taken off the hosting list. This is not a pitch Test cricket should be played on. It is a lottery. It is disappointing. It is not an advert for Test cricket."

"I am sure Axar Patel is a very nice chap. He looks a decent steady left-arm bowler. The fact he puts no revolutions on the ball and it is turning square probably tells you everything you need to know about this pitch.

We love Test cricket. There is no point playing it on pitches like this."

Brilliant sesaion for India. England bat deep with Mo coming in at 8, so need to keep the pressure on and get complacent.

This is no excuse. An English side went on to win a series on surfaces like these back in 2012. If they don't win matches on these surfaces then there are 2 things:-
1) They are lacking tactics
2) They lack the skill requirement to beat India in these conditions

I am not saying that this is a good batting surface but then you can manage to score if you bat well. If in 2012 England can bowl India out twice under 250 and score 500 runs then why can't they do that now?

Based on first test then:

1) India are lacking tactics
2) India lack the skill requirement to beat England in these conditions

:D
