T20 is no place to farm talent. If we want to find real cricketers we need to check Ranji/other domestic test tournaments. But it is an Indian PL, so 4 is enough.

The "4 international player rule restriction" is just the BCCI flexing its muscle as the defualt leader in the global game, since the ICC is not a proper governing body.

The rule overall makes absolutely no sense. In football just because the premiership is called the English Premier League didn't make England put a international players restriction.

If local Indian players old or young are good enough to make the various franchise teams starting XI's - then they should play. The quality young players like a Manish Panday who actually have a future in the Indian national team, will still learn alot by rubbing shoulders with the international stars. You dont need a rule restriction to find talent.

How will restricting proper international players from playing make a joke player like Kamran Khan, Amit Uniyal, Harmeet Singh etc etc etc who never play for India a better player?:doh

The thing that annoys me is that some of the good domestic performers still rot in the sidelines. For example, Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Abhishek Nayar and Dhawal Kulkarni are all possible future India players that find it difficult to break into the Mumbai Indians XI. I understand that the Mumbai line up is packed but their talent is being wasted. There's not an even allocation of Indian domestic talent in the teams and that's why there are some really crap players like Amit Uniyal and Harmeet Singh playing in the starting XI.

You say five i say none. IPL is the only T20 tournament in india where indian youngsters can develop . more overseas players mean less indians which can lead to lack of players for india in t20 in future...
Australia have about 1-2 overseas players in their teams that is why even some of their domestic cricketers are better than Some international players.

Australia's only been doing that for the last couple of years, so you can't really state that it's working well. It's just a recent trend to find an international star who's not doing much in January to try and help your state get to the Champions League.

When the IPL expands to 10 teams THEN I would increase the international limit to 5. That would help to strengthen the teams and you would even have slightly more Indians getting to play overall:
10 teams playing 6 Indians each = 60 Indians
at present, 8 teams playing 7 Indians = 56 Indians

Thats why the Champions League is much better.

Yes all other teams comparing to IPL teams and foreign players added team one Nation XI (Trineda and Tobago , VIC Bushrangers , Cape cobras ) is best since the players have played more no of match together than IPL teams so they are good comparing to IPL team , but my question is do we need 5 oversea players in an IPL team your views at that ;)

why 5 , 4 is more than enough if we have 5 away players in the team then there will be no advantage for BCCI without the domestic stars in it :sarcasm , then Team India will have to find some Foreign Indian to play for the National team :p

Rahul Dravid said:
"Its only right to have FOUR International Players in the playing lineup coz this is the Indian Premier League and rightly so, we have Four International players".

He said it today after the match (for the smart wits who'd wonder where this came from). Can't agree more.

Considering that this is an Indian domestic competition and not just a huge money machine, it think 4 is nice as it allows more Indian talent to compete against international players. But 5 would be good from a spectator point of view. Getting to see more international stars playing ain't exactly a bad deal.
